Hey Doug: that certainly sounds like a nice pistol. I would love to own a new P-08. The dollar sign on that one might be near $1,000. Mauser made those Lugers back in the 70s. They are new production and with the grip safety it may well be patterned after the Swiss model but it is newer by half a century. I don't know if they were made in the 9mm or if they were chambered in the original 30 Luger (one of my mostest favorite cartridges - would love to see it chambered in some of the newer carry 9s).
Anyhow, it will cost a bunch because it is the P-08 pistol. I'm not so certainit carries the collector value of one of the originals but it the value will increase over time. I think that if I had one of those I would be shooting the darn thing all the time, but with nothing heavier than a 125 gn bullet at no faster than 1100'/sec, which is what those actions were designed for. It would be about the same with a new Cimarron Arms or Uberti 1873 - might be a newly made pistol with modern metals but the actions are not what a modern day S&W revolver can handle or for a semi, what a newer 9mm can handle.
