How hard is it to fit these to a Ruger? Got a couple coming for the 32's and wanted to do it myself if possible.

I was going to do it too, but then when I got the directions I added one myself: "Take to gunsmith." You might have all the tools required, but I don'tso rather than screw things up (I also ordered the springs, too) I'm letting someone smarter than me (98% of America) take care of it. Now most guys that read and write in this forum are great do-it-yourselfers, but after enough years of screwing-it-up-myselfing . . . well, I thought best to send it off. If I did it, it might not go bang.

As Clint said, "A man's gotta know his limitations." My list is pretty darn long and growing.

I have a couple in my RVs and one was a drop in and the other I had to file a lot to fit. There is a difference in rugers frame castings. Both my pawls looked the same to me, so I think it was one with a tight channel for the pawl. They come with pretty good instructions, so it is do able. I like them, but I miss the ratcheting noise. I probably should have gone for the half cock hammers and triggers instead, but I don't shoot mine much any more. I have been using the old C&Bs mostly. I like the way my ROAs work. Just like a early blackhawk with the half notch. They should have kept that type.

I've never done it on a .32, but I did both my .45s. Easy. Just take your time. One of mine dropped right in, another needed a few thousandths taken off. If you need to remove metal, do it slowly, a little bit at a time.

Hey thar Cheyenne,
As was said before, it's doable. You'll need a smooth file (triangle's best) and a stone. Two things to watch, the little tail can be to long and it will stop the hammer from reaching full cock/sear engagement. The pawl knoch can be to high it will cause the cylinder to over rotate. The cylinder will come to battery too soon. That will stop the hammer short of full cock/sear engagement also. Install one and see if it works then start with the little tail first. Go slow, if you can measure the distance from the pawl pivot to the knoch on the original pawl it will give you what you need. The cylinder need to come to battery yet you need a little hammer movement past sear engagement. Once you get it, stone all your file marks. Open the gate and listen to her whirr. :-D

Thanks to all for the info. Going to wait till they get here and then decide. Just had the Rugerettes to the gunsmith and hate to have to take them back but it probably will be cheaper than messing one up and then having to buy another and then go. :grin:

From what several said some might just drop in and work so will try that first.
