358n D&R mag

 :)  We here at SMI have a new wildcat , we start with a 460 weatherby mag cut and reformed to 358. 1.8 inch long.
   We have driven a 180 grain Barnes ttsx bullet past 3000 fps with sub MOA.

Interesting concept, but I have got to ask...

Why in the WORLD would you use such a large case if you're trimming back to 1.800"??  You've essentially duplicated the 35X460 wildcat, but added a belt, greatly increased case prep and spent a premium to buy brass that you're then cutting in half.  The irony is you aren't gaining much at all over a 358WSM - 1.8" or the aforementioned necked down 460S&W.

I'm all for new wildcats but that one has me scratching my head.  If anything, a 458 American, trimmed .200", would have made a whole heckuvalot more sense.   ???
