native americans cooked up a dog on special occasions like we do a turkey.  I reckon wolf would be ok.  in a starvation situation, I wouldn't hesitate.

Dog is still standard fare at many Indian potlatches in Alaska. Lewis and Clark were impressed with the dog meat served to them by Indian tribes in the Cascade range.
