It all depends on your particular weapon. This ammo has on average .311 diameter bullets and shoots really well in bores that are .310 to .311 diameter. When the bore size gets over .311 things start to go south quickly. I have never shot any game with it but others say it works really well.

Have you tried sellior and bellot? When I hunt with one of my mosins I use their 180 gr SP's. Very happy with its accuracy and performance. I have also used brown bear 203 gr SP's and they shot well but not as good as the S&B, (which makes the winchester metric flavor). Hope this helps.

back in 2008 I shot a nice 7 pointer with an M44, using 203gr Wolf ammo. Dropped him right there... but I caught bottom of spine. Lots of damage.

brown bear's coating on the bullet tends to give me "sticky bolt" when the barrel heats up from shooting.  Winchester's white box soft points and Silver Bear doesn't, so that is what I use.

It's funny you mention that godogz. I noticed the same thing when using surplus ammo. I haven't had a chance to try the Bear ammo yet, I was hoping to shoot today but the weather is lousy.
Congratulations on the 7 point, yellowtail.

Thanks. It was right at dusk, about 40-50 or so yards... could barely see the iron sights (aftermarket MoJo peeps). Worked out well, though. Potent round, that 7.62 Russian.

Click photo to enlarge; bayonet was folded when I shot him.
