I rented it at the local range about a year ago. I was impressed. It is not like the glocks "Safe action" DA. It is a striker fired Traditional Double Action (though you CAN get them now as DAO.) First shot is a long heavy pull followed by short light pull afterwards. The only funky thing about the gun is the decocker, which is a "button" that rides atop the slide, and is a little hard to get to without shifting your grip. These guns also feature an automatic slide release. With the gun locked back on an empty chamber, slamming a new mag in automatically releases the slide. Mine was the .40 variant. It jumps a bit, but I have yet to find a .40 pistol that does not jump less than the 9mm. Walther also makes the same basic gun (I believe S&W and Walther developed the guns in conjunction with each other.) I have been lately thinking of a new semi-auto for carry/plinking. I keep coming to the S&W/Walther. It really did leave an impression on me.
