17 hmr BARREL on SB2 frame
« on: February 04, 2012, 10:20:36 AM »
I am wanting to build a handi Rifle in 17 Hornet using a 17 HMR barrel.  Since they don't come up very often I was thinking about buying one through the Barrel replacement program at H & R.  But reading from the H&R website it says that a 17 HMR barrel will only work on a SB1 frame manufactured after 1987.  My question is will they put one on a SB2 frame if it is sent to them.

Thanks,

H&R won't fit a rimfire barrel to any centerfire frame, only to an SS1 rimfire frame, post an ad in the H&R WTB forum if you want to buy a second hand barrel, we don't allow buying/selling/trading in discussion forums.  ;)

Or do like I did and buy a n.i.b. 17hmr for $99 that had set on a dealers shelf too long. Then you will have a synthetic stock set, and if you desire another barrel, send the frame in for another barrel.

p.s.  I think they are really missing the boat by not offering this round. There is a ton of interest and it would make a great entry level gun, that would sell.
