17hmr heavy barrel w/sights?
« on: February 04, 2012, 02:21:34 PM »
Did H&R ever make the 17hmr sportster with a heavy barrel and open sights?  My cousin just picked one up at a local gun shop used for $150.  The salesman didn't know if it came with sights or the previous owner had them put on.  Could you send them back to the factory and have the sights put on?  I guess the salesman said he didn't think it had been fired.  I can't confirm that since I haven't seen it yet.  I think it was there 2 yrs ago when I bought my 17hm2 sportster from him but I didn't take a good look at it.  Just wondering because my cousin asked me if I had ever seen one with the heavy barrel and open sights.
My biggest fear in life is dying and my wife selling my guns for what I told her I paid for them.

I have had 2 of them, neither had sights and I don't believe they made  them with any.

I added sights to mine aswell. They only came with scope rail as far as I know

I can't remember the part #'s anymore but here is a picture of the barrel. I truthfully never used them much. And the rifle is currently scoped as i prefer hunting with it that way vs. the open sights to get all of the accuracy potention out of the round.

H&R used to add sights to any barrel for $47, dunno what Remington charges now tho.
