Selling gun parts on ebay
« on: February 07, 2012, 02:14:30 PM »
Now that ebay allows more gun parts to be sold on the site is payal allowing payments thru them.  I know I heard somewhere that paypal will drop you if you use them to purchase gun parts thru them.  I just wanted to know in case I wanted to put some stuff up for auction.  Or is it better if I just put that I accept USPS money order only?

Paypal hadn't changed their policy as of last week when I looked it up.

What is PayPal’s policy on transactions that involve firearms?

We don’t allow PayPal members to buy or sell any kind of firearm, whether it’s in working order or not. The same goes for certain firearm parts and ammunition.

For example, using PayPal, you can’t buy or sell:

Any firearm, including rifles, shotguns, and handguns, whether they’re for sport and recreation, collectibles, or curio or relic firearms.

Firearm parts, including but not limited to receivers and frames, silencers, and kits designed to modify guns so that they fire automatically. High capacity magazines, multi-burst trigger activators, and camouflaging firearm containers are other items in this category.

Ammunition, including propellants like gunpowder or blank ammunition; ammunition or cartridge cases; and primers, bullets, or propellant powder designed for any firearm.

Stun gun sales are allowed for U.S. residents, but only if the transaction is permitted by law in both the buyer's and seller's jurisdictions. (PayPal account holders outside the U.S. can’t buy or sell stun guns.) Before they complete a sale, U.S. sellers must make sure that the transaction is legal in both locations.

Related items that you can buy and sell using PayPal include paintball guns, blank guns, and air-soft guns, as long as such transactions are legal in the applicable jurisdiction. All of these items must display the markings required by law, must not be convertible to shoot a lethal projectile, and can’t include blank ammunition.

I use them all the time and have had no problems at all.
If I am not mistaken E-Bay states that they only accept PayPal now.
If so and they are selling gun related parts then PayPal would have to honor their payment because isn't PayPal owned by E-Bay?
Not sure about this???

I was just wondering because of the barrels you see on there now.  I didn't know if paypal would allow those.  Or is it pretty much if ebay allows it than paypal allows it too.

Pay pal is owned by Ebay and all sales must be paid for through Paypal you can no longer pay any other way and the seller is now charged a  listing fee, a selling and final fee but also a final fee on shipping charge as well as a paypal fee.

I keep an eye out for gun parts all the time on ebay. I use pay pal on all my transactions and haven't had any problems so far. I also collect artillery shells and have bought several from ebay without problems.

So if I read that right, basically they won't allow any transactions for parts that can turn a firearm into full auto or select fire....but barrels, stocks, non-select fire trigger groups (10/22 for example), and such are allowed.

There are some other services similar to Paypal that are allowed I believe.  I frequently get emails from bidders asking if I'll take a check or MO and I usually do.
