Dixie Dude, that is spot on.  It's exactly what I was talking about concerning "incrementalism", but you describe it better.     ;)

I'm sorry.........when has incrementalism worked in favor of FREEDOM. I must have missed that part! Every bit of incrementalism has been used to abrogate our our freedoms during my lifetime!

No....it's time for MAJOR change in direction. And it needs to happen now! No more voting for gun grabbers and those who give lip service to freedom for me.......THAT'S WHAT GOT US WHERE WE ARE AT TODAY!!!!!!

There are those who claim that a vote for RP is the same as a vote for Obama. Well, I guess this will get me in trouble, but I say a vote for anyone who supported socialized medicine or to abrogate our firearms rights is the same as a vote for Obama! Deny it all you want, but a vote for that sort of thing is a vote against freedom.

Think about it...do you really want a man who voted for socialized medicine, and to restrict rights to bear arms, appointing a new judge to SCOTUS? Because if you do, you might as well vote for Obamney and get it over with now. :P

That noise? Oh that's just your freedom falling like the twin towers did!

If you go on a long hike in the woods and then decide you want to go home, can you turn around and suddenly be back at the truck?  no, you might take a short cut, but mainly you have to retrace your steps.  taking back the country can be done by adopting a liberal tactic and eat the apple one bite at a time.  we didn't get where we're at overnight.

Bugeye, you have to understand that the RP people don't want to take a bite of the apple.  They want the whole thing right now or they don't want any.  Me, well I know what happens to a pig with a whole apple in its mouth.

Uh huh, Right! And you've shown how incrementalism has worked in our favor before. Sure thing. Guess what your analogy doesn't quite have the ring of truth. Our freedoms are not a "walk in the woods" nor are they an apple to eat.

You think the founding fathers were "retracing steps" when they created this nation?

WE DO NOT NEED OBAMA TO APPOINT MORE LIBERAL JUDGES TO THE SUPREME COURT.  Even Romney would at least appoint more moderate or even conservative judges.

I respectfully and summarily dismiss your statement.

How many more terms do you suggest folks wait? Republican or Dems always the same GOVT disfunction whatever party you affiliate yourself with... If you only elect me ... I promise..... then same ol same ol.

Sorry I don't consider towing the party line as a vote in the right direction. A Mitt Romeny has neither gained my trust nor my vote. His actions speak louder than words. Newt is a scumbag. Santorum , I do not want morality legislated from Govt. At least RP had carried a consistant message for years, walks the walk , choose to agree with his policies or disagree your choice,  but at least you are getting a known commodity and you know where he stands.

A traveling salesman is walking down a country road, and passes a farm. In the middle of the field he sees a farmer, standing under an apple tree. The farmer holds a pig in his arms. The salesman stops and watches as the farmer walks around the tree with the pig, and holds it up so that the pig can eat an apple right off of a tree branch. Amazed, the salesman sees the farmer lift the pig so that it can eat about four apples in this manner.

“Mr. Farmer,” yells the salesman, “wouldn’t it take a lot less time if you just put the pig on the ground, and let him eat the apples that have fallen off of the tree?” The farmer pauses in his work, turns to the salesman and says, “Well, maybe, but really, what’s time to a pig?”

Well, back in the mid-90's, when the Republicans took back congress, they stopped Hillarycare.  When the Republicans were in office in the early 2,000's and Bush Jr. was President, the let the gun ban expire.

The Bush's and Reagan at least appointed conservative or at the very least moderate judges.

Just keeping things FROM happening, will help.  However, conservatives don't follow through very well, like writing congressmen, calling congressmen, electing conservatives or libertarians in LOCAL, and STATE offices to build a Party base in which a national candidate can have support locally to win.

We elected Reagan, but didn't follow through by electing conservatives to the house and senate.  A hard turn will require violence, incremental will not.  Same with abortion, it needs to at least go back to states rights, then outlaw late term, then get it down to 5 months, sense at 5 months a baby can survive outside the womb.  Then people will begin to realise that it is a human right.  Can't do this nationally, but incrementally.  This is how they got gun control, incrementally, and how state by state, concealed carry laws have changed.

Dixie Dude, another good post. I'm glad someone else besides IG and myself addressed incrementalism.  the liberals have shown it can work.  but not enough conservatives understand it.

I realize it's not a walk in the woods or an apple.  it was an analogy, like when you're explaining something to a child, you simplify it.

Unfortunately it's an over simplification of the deeper issues , and in this instance as in the analogy regarding incrementalism, the child or Govt. has learned nothing from their past experiences..  except maybe if slower decay
counts.

Now today Romney is claiming to be a "Severely" conservative . Really Mitt , you should be ashamed of yourself. But hey say anything to win a vote.

Severe ? maybe he means extreme conservative. and if any one is buying this latest garbage coming from the mouth of babes I have an Apple orchard for them buy. 'Course even picking off the low hanging fruit would be a "severe" challenge for this RINO.

 - God forbid True tax reform should only be negotiated quietly behind closed doors away privately from the 98% masses.
Yeah there's full disclosure for ya.

Yes, I realise there are deeper issues.  The most important one, is we forgot God.  When someone interviewed a Russian who left when the Communists took over was asked, How did you let this happen.  He said, we forgot God.  When Christians allowed the government to take over welfare in the 60's, and started supporting teen mothers, and food stamps.  Christians should have spoken up and said this is our job, not the governments.  Same with families, the let the government support their teen mother, or they had old uncle Joe, who was a bum to start with, let the government take care of him, instead of the families pushing him to get a job and take care of himself.  We have to take the country back, and it won't be by staying home and not voting for the more conservative of two.  I agree, I held my nose and voted for Bush, and McCain.  I thought Pat Bucannon would have been better, or even Ross Perot.  We are headed the way of Europe, stagnant, welfare, socialist states.  Very little growth, and less freedom.  We need our factories back, we need morals taught and at least respected, less government intrusion.  Not going to happen overnight, unless by rebellion.

Dixie Dude is right, we have forgot God - and some who have forgotten, are Christians:

cuts, it did not do a thing for freedom.   it took away freedom from right under your nose.
it can be used to restore freedom if conservatives would open their eyes.
your way is going to cost us everything we have left.
everyone here knows I am not afraid to take back the country by force. I've preached it for years.
but that could be averted if people would do as Dixie Dude has inferred. go back to God and just maybe the ship won't sink.  the founders constantly spoke of God.  believe me, God would give us more hope than RP.  all we have to do is ask.

Yes, I realise there are deeper issues.

You bet there are .. Someone here who is all for status quo RINO explain to me this latest turn around of political events. The Republicans have fought the payroll tax cuts for months unless the costs were offset. Now today,  all of a sudden with the release of the Admin Jobs plan that ties the Payroll tax cuts to an elimination of tax breaks on the wealthy.   its now ok to pass a clean payroll tax cut bill without need of any amendment offsets or lower the deficit Like:

-  elimination of the tax breaks for the wealthy
 - the passage of the keystone pipeline

HMMMM.  I guess those pay as you go offsets weren't all that important after all , if it affects the pocketbooks of the upper 2%. These RINO's are so in favor of protecting their own 2 % , that they continue to do anything to undermine our economy and provide protection to their wealthy cronies. Hypocrites ..the whole lot of 'em. Makes me sick. I think I'll stick with RP and all this political one ups gamesmanship will end. Just sickening.

Dixie Dude and some others think we need to keep electing the most Conservative to gradually turn things around. Incremental ism is how we came to this sad state of affairs. The lesser of the two!Logical incremental ism might keep us going in the right direction, but Irrational incremental ism is why we are here.

I would venture to say most of the RP supporters on the forum have at one time practiced this philosophy. I know I did!I voted for the one"I thought" was the most Conservative. I thought I was doing the best  I could do for my country. Actually I was adding to the demise of it. :( When something doesn't work, why should we continue to apply it. People like Ron Paul cannot instantly take us back to the prosperous years, but they can help stop the forward motion of destruction and get us going in the right direction again. He's no Savior,as some think we supporters believe but he's as close to the founders in belief as you can get, and he practices it.
Freedom Of Speech.....Once we lose it, every other freedom will follow.

Well stated!
