NEED A PROJECT PART II
« on: February 07, 2012, 10:42:24 PM »
OK--I am at a loss here. I am going to bring a long gun into the conversation, so, If the mods want to move it, just tell me where it is going. I would like to leave it here since we have talked about project guns recently---but I am not begging.
I have, forever and a day, threatened the world by doing an AR--maybe in a .22.
What other calibers are worth mentioning and what other platforms am I not considering? I would like it to be little and quick.
The platform could be a semi----but a bolt or leaver is within consideration. Maybe anything.
Blessings

I am going to be the first to post and ask a question.
I have an old Winchester 30/30---a beater that I picked up at Kittery back on my wanderlust trip 4/5 years ago.
What caliber conversions can be done to it and who? I would hope that somebody would say a .327 mag conversion---I ain't hold my breath.
Blessings

Keep the 30/30 like it is and get something that would be a companion gun to one of your handguns. Like a 44 , 357, 45LC lever gun. If ya went AR platform, you could get one in say 9mm or 45acp(if ya had one of these calibers in a handgun).

I'm getting the itch to build an AR myself so why don't you break the trail for me William.

ARs are like Chevy hotrods... everyone and their brother makes/sells components for them so parts are easy to find, prices are reasonable and the options are practically limitless.

I'm not a reloader and don't intend to start any new hobbies at this time so I'm thinking about a common factory caliber for myself.  5.56 NATO/.223 Rem., .308, etc.    Palmetto State Armory and DPMS are a couple of sources that come readily to mind that I understand sell quality stuff.
