there a decent sight but if it were my 300 bucks id save a while longer and buy a comp 2 aimpoint. Or even consider a used one. Battery life is so good on the aimpoint they can be left on all the time. they claim a battery life on a comp 2 is a year left on. Ive got two that have been on for almost 3 years now on the same battery. Nice thing about that is if you have to grab a gun in the middle of the night your not having to fumble with switches or with sight hoods. But that been said if your gun is just a gun your going to take to the range and plink with and you are going to remember to turn it off when your done everytime there a pretty good little sight. IF you want it to cowitness with your open sights on an ar you need the riser. Even if you dont have open sights to cowithness with your going to want the riser to put the sight at the right height for a more natural feel. they have to be a rugged little sight. I know one guy that has one mounted on a 12 guage 3 1/2 pump that he does all his goose hunting with and that gun has probably got thousands of rounds through it and he loves it. Nothings as rugged as an aimpoint though. I once saw a video on you tube where two guys from aimpoint took a couple ars out to a parking lot. they set up targets at 50 yards. Shot there ars. Took off the aimpoits, skipped them 30 feet accross a parking lot picked them up skipped them back again and mounted them on there guns and both held perfect zero. try that with any other optic made!
