I got one a few years ago when they still put walnut stocks on them.  I like mine.  I got it to teach grandkids how to shoot.  No grandkids yet...

I have two, purchased six or seven years ago. They both have walnut stocks, nothing fancy but servicable. My eyes required some help so I installed 3/8" rails for scopes. The 22 Mag will shoot any ammo I have tried and is accurate. The 22 LR likes mini mags and is a great plinker in its' own right. I like the octogon barrels and tilting block action. I think they are very durable and would be very good to start a young shooter with. I hate seeing youngsters unloading a semi auto without hitting anything.

I love mine.  ;)  I can shoot wasps at 15-30 yards.  This one is about 24 years old.

Better look one over, they have got very crude and nothing like they use to be.  I'd buy one myself, if they were like they use to be.

I looked over a new one the other day and "crude" is being very kind. Very disappointing.

Sounds like my best bet is to find an older model.

Thanks for the help!

I saw new one on the rack at a shop over the summer and was surprised by the $200 price tag. I was buying another .22 so I didnt look at it. I always wanted to go back and look but havent yet. I guess "crude" explains the "too good to be true" price tag.

I just briefly looked at one several months ago.  Didn't even pick it up.  However now I'm getting a little more interested since I've been looking for a super simple little lightweight single shot to have as a knockaround rifle and the Stevens Model 15 types are no longer made.  Actually would like it in .22 Mag. too.

i have one of the newer repros, prob got it about 8 yrs ago.gave $160 for it. i like it for what i gave for it. its a nice trapping rifle, a nice truck rifle. very light and accurate. it is a bit crude, wood to metal finish is not that great but i really think i got my moneys worth. always fires fine. sights are good. it does have potential, if a guy took it apart and refinshed the wood and sanded it down to meet the metal it would be sweet.the wood is nice on mine. i like mine and think its a keeper.but, dont buy them for kids as the hammer is a bit stiff for little thumbs to cock.

I wouldn't mind reshaping and refinishing stocks.  I do it all the time with my Pardner shotguns and Handi rifles.  However, how are the sights?  Is it a post front or a bead?

I have an old one (1930's?) with full octagon barrel. Fun shooter.
