I am new to this particular part of GB so I apologize for confusing some of the regulars. It may have been Bugeye that I was thinking of, but you are similar on that issue. I am afraid that I cannot use the Bible as the sole authority on anything but itself. I do not claim to be anything other than an individual autonomous US citizen, not conservative, liberal , or otherwise. Romney reminds me of every used car salesman I have ever known, and one that wont show me the carfax at that. Santorum is the sunday school teacher whose son died because he spent too long praying instead of calling 911. Newt IS smart. He is also slimy, and he looks out for Newt. If he bugs out on wife #1, AND wife#2, why would I think he would hang in there to save the country if things got tough ? Ron Paul is the closest to my position on most things , so that is why I am for him.
I have nothing against Obama, as far as I am concerned he has done nothing worse certainly than George Bush did, just in different areas. Between them they have sucked up mightily to their various factions and we are all in debt up to our eyeballs, and civil liberties have lessened under both.
If any of the republicans win, ( I accept the fact that Dr Paul will not) I do not expect a big cut in military spending, severe retraction of the growing cancer that is homeland security apparatus, sort of an American KGB,
removal of all the tax credits and subsidies for people of wealth, complete transparency in all governmental financial transactions, politicians financial transactions, and campaign donations and spending.
Even IF Dr Paul were elected, little would be done, because the rest of the political deck is stacked against it. BUT, at least by supporting him I am stating my opposition. By voting otherwise I would be SUPPORTING the status quo, whether tweedle dee or tweedle dum. That would be like a slave saying "yay! ain't this great, please, beat me some more". Uh.....no.
You also need to realize that the political spectrum is not linear, but curved, sort of like 3 legged stool. If you go on past democrats you eventually get to communist, if you go past republicans you get to fascists, and if you go past libertarians you get to anarchists. The ends of the legs are all closer to each other than they are to the seat.
