Wyoming to shoot dwn local gun laws in favor of citizens.
« on: February 11, 2012, 06:29:50 AM »
CHEYENNE, Wyo. — State lawmakers are drafting legislation that would prevent local governments in Wyoming from passing any gun control laws, under penalty of heavy fines or even removal from office.

Currently, Wyoming law prohibits cities, counties and other local bodies from passing their own laws regulating or banning firearms, except to prevent rioting, disturbances or disorderly assemblies.

But late last year, the Casper City Council controversially banned openly carried weapons at city government meetings; the Gillette City Council shelved a similar proposal in May.

Under the legislation, which sponsors plan to file within the next couple of days, all local government gun control laws would be nullified.

We got some good people in the legislature now and a good Republican Gov. This law will put us right near the top of the gun friendly list. Still don't have a castle doctrine law yet but that is the only gun friendly law we don't have.

Hadn't thought about it before but I guess that is right I've always wondered about the stories where an intruder beat on the door a long time before breaking it down. Why didn't the person inside just punch a few holes in the door. If you do that I guess there is also the possibility that the beater was a neighbor drunk out of his mind.

And that makes a difference how?

Instead of shooting my neighbor I would take him home to his wife.

........or maybe your wife can be raped and murdered by your "drunken neighbor" after he breaks down the door?

Never have figured out what some idiot thought they would need to carry a weapon to a city councel meeting for. It's against the concealed carry provisions to carry any firearms into a governmental meeting, unless you're a duly appointe law officer.
In the 1920's "sheeple" was a term coined by the National Socialist Party in Germany to describe people that would not vote for Hitler. In the 1930's they held Hitler as the only one that would bring pride back to Germany and bring the budget and economy back.....

What kind of idiot city council feels it is necessary to pass such an ordinance. I doubt that hardly ever does a gun come to council meetings, so are some council members just making a political statement.

There were several folks carrying into the Casper City Councel meetings. That's what got the thing started. I thnk Cody was having the same problems at about the same time, but have not heard anything about what happened up there.

I stand corrected.

I heard about the effort to pass the ordinance but never heard the particulars. I think that open carry was really starting to become popular in some areas and it made some of the valley girl types nerveous at first. Kinda startled me at first to see guys walking around Casper with a gun on their hip, then I thought twice and realized I was a lot safer with those guys around.

I've never felt the urge to carry myself, after 20 years strapping one on mostly for weekends, a six shooter dragging my pants down is not something I care to do on a whim. There always is a gun in my vehicle though.

I'ts not always the place I go to that I feel the need to carry, most times it;s getting from the parking lot to there. A big parking lot is a bad place to be late at night. POWDERMAN.  :o :o

Pennsylvania recently adopted that and it definitely keeps people from being an A_ _ hole. It places a lot of meaning in the phrase, "If you're found here tonight, you'll be found here tomorrow".
