Got a Rossi .357 rifle today!
« on: February 11, 2012, 10:46:13 AM »
I love single shots, have several Handi Rifles, and have not been able to find a deal on a .357 for the past 2 years. I love Marlin leveractions, but they are just too expensive $600+ new! I was in a local pawn  shop today, found a stainless rossi/black wood stock, weaver base and rings and Bushnell Stainless satin 3x9x40 legend scope. Had $250 marked on it, I made a trade for another gun i had, ended up with $175 total in it. Got home, and shot it bagged at 50 yds, in blowing snow,  and it shot a cloverleaf, 1 inch over the crosshairs. I am very please with it.

Congrats.  I've been contemplating one of the Rossi .45 colt levers with the octagon barrel.  ;)  Sounds like you got quite a deal though.

I nearly bought one of those this past fall, in .357, but had the shallowest rifling I have ever seen in a gun. with a bore light inside the barrel, you could barely make out the rifleing. I fiugred it would be easy fouled with lead bullets, and also picky about bullets/loads. Before you buy one, take a peep down the barrel.

Does Rossi still make the .357? Can you get exchange barrels like the Handi?

Hey, great! Hope you have a lot of fun with it.  I have one but I am getting some strange nipple looking primers shooting factory ammo. I would app. and info that might help me figure it out.  Otherwise, I love it.

When my Martini was doing that it was because the firing pin hole was over-sized for the pin.  Hopefully it'll be something cheaper to fix on your gun...
