Took Sky Caribou hunting last year. He had the most enjoyable time since he was small when his Mom and I took him Moose Hunting. He has been too busy with school, since back then. Now he is talking about going Bear Hunting this spring. He will make the time. Sitting there watching the sun come up and the light race across the valley was something he had never seen. Now he wants to go see it again.
When we were dressing the Caribou last year, Sky called it a dissection. Biology major coming out.
Sent a .22RF and a youth size H&R 20ga to my oldest son so he can take his daughter Turkey Hunting this spring. She is 10, time for that to start happening. Let her enjoy the simple things of just sitting and watching the sun come up.
I think my most memorable sunrises, while not simple, was in the New Mexico dessert. Get up an hour before sunrise, saddle the horses, eat breakfast, then head out for round-up. Stop on a rise looking out over the Tularosa Basin, and watch the sun rise above the Sacramento Mtns. My wranglers would sit there in awe, then tell me all the vivid colors crossing the sky. Even thou I could not see the colors it was still beautiful. I could tell it was not a normal sunrise, like I saw back in Tennessee. As we watched the dessert, we could see the glint of sun shining off the coats of Wild Horses, Oryx, and Antelope, scattered across the area. You can only see that at first light.
