Does any body know what twist rate TC uses in their Contender .22 hornet barrels ?
I was wondering, if its possiable to K a hornet and be able to shoot a 55 grain bullet, and have it stabilize. Does this work ? Or, would I be better of finding a bigger cartridge?
Thanks

All recently manufactured .224" bore barrels have used a 1-12" twist.  I cannot tell you how long this has been going on, but your Hornet barrel if it is of recent manufacture should be a 1-12" and will likely work just fine with a 55gr bullet.  I am using a 55gr Sierra BT bullet with very good results at a medium velocity (about 1700fps).

Mines a little better than a year old and it's a 12 twist with a tight bore (.2234).
If you have your's K-ed make sure they don't oversize the chamber or ream/hone too much otherwise brass won't last. I'm having Fred build me a K-Hornet and am going to rechamber the one I have to 223 because of an oversized chamber.

My turkey load is a Hornady 60gr SP out of a 10" regular hornet loaded rather mild and is quite stable.  GOOD SHOOTIN',  Walt  :D

All the 22's (22lr, 22hornet, 222, 223) from TC factory are 1:12 twists.

My 10" Hornet with 53gr MHPs (either sierra or hornady) will shoot moa with 9 gr H110.

Hope this helps.
