Black Historian Trashes Abraham Lincoln as "Racist"

On Booknotes,  Black historian Lerone Bennett discussed his book, "Forced Into Glory: Abraham Lincoln's White Dream," in which he argues that Lincoln was a
 racist whose political mentor was Senator Henry Clay, a Kentucky slave owner. He
 also showed that Lincoln always supported the fugitive slave laws, among other
 lines of reasoning. He also talked about his long career in African-American
 journalism.
 
 This is typical white hating Negro rhetoric based in large part on the
 following: Lincoln was a "racist" who used the "N-word",  told "darkie jokes"
 and attended minstrel shows; the Emancipation Proclamation did not free any
 slaves; Lincoln wanted to repatriate the Negros back to Africa or to other
 locations, and Lincoln wanted a white America.
 
 White Lincoln skeptics and revisionists will recognize the truth of many if not
 most of Bennett's views. Nevertheless, I have never been able to find any
 support for the idea that Lincoln was a malicious racist or that he frequently
 used the "N-word," (So commonly used by Negroes today, although it has been
 declared by Negros to be off limits to white people in a kind of bizarre
 racially segregated system of free speech rights, whereby the exercise of free
 speech rights is based on skin color.)
 
 I've read all of Lincoln's known writings (all 7 volumes) and not once did he
 use the "N-word" except in a small number of instances to mock his adversaries,
 such as Stephan A. Douglas, Moreover, during the Lincoln Douglas debates Lincoln
 upbraided Douglas for referring to Negros as "crocodiles" and argued
 unwaveringly for whites to recognize the humanity of Negros, even if they did
 not like them.
 
 Lincoln never supported slavery. He always opposed its existence and its
 spread on moral grounds and argued consistently for the need to recognize the
 humanity of Negros, whether free or slaves. When people defended slavery on the
 grounds of Negro inferiority, Lincoln argued that even though Negros may be less
 well endowed than whites, Negros should be allowed to keep the little that they
 have without being stripped of their liberty and the product of their labor.
 
 Whatever else one may say about Lincoln, he was not a virulent racist. He
 advocated racial separatism because the believed the differences between the
 races would forever make their co-existence impossible. (This view is held by
 many Negros as well, both then and now.)
 
 I think this book and it's attitude says more about Negros than about Lincoln.
 It's becoming apparent that America's "Trowsered Blacks" hate white people and
 this country so much that they now will bend over backwards to trash even the
 one white person who, more than any other individual, was responsible for
 ending slavery, regardless of the immediate impact of the Emancipation
 Proclamation.
 
 He ends the interview by emphasizing the continuing obligation of America (i.e.
 white people) to make good the NSF check and the promise of "equality", which
 is code for whites paying more taxes and transferring wealth to  Blacks. These people are determined to relegate white people  to second class citizenship by elevating themselves to a legally superior status
 as a creditor class, and to reduce white people to a subordinate legal status as  an indentured debtor race.

I believe most people have a certain amount of racism in them, all races...
 
Certainly before the Civil War most were racists, I see it still today...
 
It's not just "whites" that are racist...If you want to change someone's attitude toward "your" race, then do something good to prove them wrong...

Today such sentiments would certainly be denounced as 'racist', so call Lincoln a racist if you must.
Lincoln was no more racist than many people are today, both black and white.  It's just hidden more, usually.

By modern standards, Lincoln was most certainly a "racist." 

That being said, Lincoln  always recognized and showed sympathy for the humanity of black people and  always spoke against slavery.   The point of the post is  that blacks are so hateful of white people and this country that they will turn even against Lincoln, the man who more than any other individual ended slavery.

Your observations are spot on.  The dominate theme of the so called "Black intellectuals" is "the white man done us wrong" and it's going to take a huge wealth transfer to blacks to achieve "equality."   The whole purpose of the Civil Rights movement and the so called "black movement" is to relegate whites to second class citizenship. Blacks are presumed innocent and whites are presumed guilty.   No amount of money will ever be enough for these parasites.  The fact that they would turn against LIncoln shows how twisted they are...both morally and intellectually.

Lincoln was not a racist by the standards of his time.    The revisionist historians of today want to paint him as a racist who used blacks and slavery as a cover for continuing the War, while keeping the black man down.      In my view, the biggest racists of the modern day are blacks and hispanics [La Raza, the New BP Party, Al not-too-Sharp-ton, Jesse Jokeson (SR & Jr)].
