NEF Superlight 223 youth

Hello all!  I just bought the Superlight in a 223 for my youngest son. I want to shoot a heavier grain bullet in this . Say around 60 or 64. Not real sure the twist rate though. It is a new gun. Anyone have experience with these and how they shoot the heavier lineup?

There is a table in the FAQ's regarding twist rates relative to S/N.  If your's is a newer gun it will have a 1 in 9, and should stabilize fine.

My Old 1:12 Handing actually stabilized the 60 trainers Very well and they were Darned Accurate. Never went heavier than that though.

The FAQs and Help sticky is just a few topics above this thread, 6 down from the top.  ;) If it's an NEF marked rifle and an ejector, it's likely 1:12" and should shoot 64gr Win Power Points good. New is relative, it could be new old stock and be several years old, specially if it's marked NEF.  H&R did away with with the NEF brand starting in 2007-2008. If it's an extractor barrel, it's likely 1:9", although they did have some accessory Superlight barrels that were 1:12" in inventory in late 2007, still should work well with the 64gr Wins. Other heavier bullets that will work in the 1:12" barrels are 60gr Nosler partition and 63gr Sierra #1370. Best way to learn the twist rate is following the directions that are listed below the twist rate list in the FAQs.  ;)

Buckgitter , does that model have iron sights? What do you think the gun weight is? I have been thinking about one of these for my son, might make a great little utility rifle, anybody seen any new ones for sale lately? Nobody in my area handles the handi rifle in stock anymore, have to order it in,
