“All that first term, lip service to gun owners is just part of a massive Obama conspiracy to deceive voters and hide his true intentions to destroy the Second Amendment during his second term,” he said.

Apparently the NRA needs even more money so we will once again bring out the scare tactics. LaPierre makes this stupid statement with nothing to back it up. The only gun rights stuff that has happened under Obama so far has been to allow weapons in checked luggage on Amtrack and the right to carry in national parks. Obama did not try to stop these he signed them into law, but I guess some of you here did not want that to happen, at least not if Obama backed it. Even if Obama could manage to outlaw guns or even get any serious restrictions it would blow any chance of another democrat getting elected after Obama's second term and the democratic party would not stand for that. Come on think things through once in awhile.

I agree with this alot.  Do I think he has pondered the idea of gun control?  Most democrats seem to, so I am betting that he did.  I think a bigger reality is though that almost every person in serious power that has pondered the thought of complete gun control has aksed themselves one simple question, "How much civilian blood am I willing to shed to get this?" The western states (and Texas in particular) would scare the hec out of me if I was a president considering complete gun control.  There are crowds that WILL defend their right to bear arms to to the death and the western state crowds IMO seem to have alot of the bigger crowds.  Texas- I believe would be like trying to invade a well armed foriegn country.  I am not taking nothing away from the folks east of the Mississippi- I live in Indiana.  I am just saying that folks out there think a little differently.

If you think their claim was baseless look up the meeting Obama had with Mrs Brady where he told her he was working on gun control issues and would have to do it under the radar and in his second term. I would expect alot of democrats would be hard pressed to support it in congress . So it might be in other ways like exc order or such.
 
People don't have to like the NRA they can even question their motive but it would be wise to at least consider what they put out as anything less is playing into the gun haters hands .

I googled it and did find some articles on it.  All articles state that mrs. brady reported to the press that Obama told her that it would be under the radar.  There are no reports confirming that he did say it.  However, I could not find any articles where obama stated that he didn't make the statement.

This is good news for gun stores and manufacturers.  Should make for another good year.  I did hear that Obama's 2013 budget has a proposal to cut funding for the Flight Deck Officer program in half.  That will help to keep guns out of the cockpit.  Brilliant.

You cannot SUCCESSFULLY argue if someone does something it means they support it, and and if they do not that they are secretly supporting it. I have been a member of the NRA for most of the last 45 years, and if some serious looking legislation pops up I will send them a check. I have gotten over the hype though, and recognize the real deal when it is there. With Kennedy, Lautenberg, Corzine out, the odds are much better. Schumer is still there though, and Bloomberg is a pain. I would worry more about mayors of mid-size cities, they have the capacity to harass and cause problems for their citizens. The dangers will not come from big national initiatives, it will come from nuisance things, like the ordinance in St Charles preventing homeowners from shooting squirrels with pellet guns. Could put someones eye out you know. Passed 6-2 in the council meeting. Their neighboring suburb wanted to put the urban deer on birth control by shooting them with darts, instead of the urban archery season. That, is a problem.

In Obama's new budget he just submitted.  He wants all government M1 Garands and M1 Carbines melted down and not sold to the public.  He also wants all brass not to be sold to reloading companies, he wants that melted down.  He wants to reinstate the "assault weapons ban".  Right now with this budget, he is pandering to his far left base for support.  Even Senator Reed will not even bring this stupid budget before a vote in the senate.  He has too many far fetched ideas.  Like a world tax on corporations.  He is trying to make small business go out of business so he can have greater control over the few larger businesses.  Same with small farmers.  He wants more dependency by the people for more government control.  Socialist and Communist to the core.  That is why we must vote for any Republican just to get him out with his cronies.  NRA is right, even Holder said this before congress, he wants to have more gun control his second term, because then he can't be stopped.  Watch for a lot of executive orders flying if he looses, before he has to step down.

Can you provide us with a link to verify this information? I only ask because I seem to recall the same claim being made under the Klinton administration. Not saying it's not true, but would like verification.
