You cannot SUCCESSFULLY argue if someone does something it means they support it, and and if they do not that they are secretly supporting it. I have been a member of the NRA for most of the last 45 years, and if some serious looking legislation pops up I will send them a check. I have gotten over the hype though, and recognize the real deal when it is there. With Kennedy, Lautenberg, Corzine out, the odds are much better. Schumer is still there though, and Bloomberg is a pain. I would worry more about mayors of mid-size cities, they have the capacity to harass and cause problems for their citizens. The dangers will not come from big national initiatives, it will come from nuisance things, like the ordinance in St Charles preventing homeowners from shooting squirrels with pellet guns.
