Student quits choir after refusing to sing praises to allah.

A Colorado high school student quit the school choir after an Islamic song containing the lyric "there is no other truth except Allah" made it into the repertoire.

What part of separation of church and state don't you understand?  I thought "god" had no place in public schools?  Allah is a god to some people and therefore the name should not be mentioned in a public school.
 
I have said it before and I say it again-seperation of church and state is not a buffet where we get to pick and choose what churches/religions will be separated from the state. Its an all or none proposition.

Are these now going to be taken out of the program?

Why did the student quit ? Why couldn't he just abstain from singing that particular song?

Personally , I strongly believe we should have left the Pledge of Allegiance in our classrooms. For those children that do not want to recite they should Just abstain , bow their heads,  and pledge to whatever they want while the rest recites.  Given the choice Crusty poses , I would rather cast my vote for all , than nothing.

according to the 1st amendent, if a school wants to have prayer, the feds have no right to stop it.
schools are local and state entities.  the dept. of education is nothing but a control group.

I saw one at a catholic school in 86, I think they still have them but probably not at public schools.

My employer last year tried to tell me I could only say Happy Holidays in the work place.
I told them to pound sand.

If you dont like the broadcast, change the station.
If you dont like the food , dont eat it.

We dont need govt stepping in regulating everything and telling us what we can sing, watch , attend , eat etc..
The Govt is suppose to work for us , not us work for them.
