700 twist ?
« on: February 18, 2012, 05:16:12 AM »
I have 22-250 it looks like the early model (going by the stock)but I can open the bolt when on safe and from what I have found the twist rate is usually 1/14 but I have checked mine several times useing a cleaning rod and patch and I am always getting 1/16. Did they make it with that twist?

Not sure I bought it from a shop back in 90 and just now getting curious. The only bullets I have fired through it have been 50 and 55gr. and they both shoot good.

I believe Remington has always used 1 in 14" with the .22-250. They shoot bullets from 40 to 55 grains nicely. When I get my round tuit I'm gonna see if mine will shoot the 60 grain plastic tipped bullets as well. I kinda doubt with that slow a twist it will shoot much heavier than 60 but ya never know until ya try.

;) Graybeard, one of my shooting buddies shoots a Rem. 700 and uses 60 grain Vmax for coyotes.....it is a stock rifle not rebarreled or anything..they do an excellent job for him..
