Dating a Topper
« on: February 18, 2012, 07:07:56 AM »
Looked high and low on GB and WWW for answers or clues to the year of birth for
H&R Topper JR Model490 .410 with no luck.
The only information I come up with is that they were made 1962-1985 and it's
the Jr model of the 158. It's my understanding that they didn't get a serial# until 1964 starting with (AA)**123456
The "P" is a pressure test for 3" shells?

It does not have a serial# - It has an old dried up red recoil pad (circles and diamonds) H&R Arms logo on butt
Pat 2876576
It's a take down with no screw in the forearm
On the top ( GAUGE-P  and also  Mod 410-P )
The trigger guard appears to be plastic
If you know of any marks or clues that would allow me to date it would be most appreciated.

Gary,

IIRC, the AD before the US PAT is the year code which would be 1967.  ;)
