I mounted a pistol scope about 2/3's down the barrel of my 397 in a scout position so its not in the way when I pump it.
regular mounts, weird position. but it works great.
The difference between people who do stuff and people who don't do stuff is that the people who do stuff do stuff.

Doesn't look very secure, but maybe good enough for the rifles potential.
 
The Dampa mounts on my Crow Magnum are very secure, but then it needs secure mounts with its recoil and long range accuracy.
Evolution at work. Over two million years ago the genus Homo had small cranial capacity and thick skin to protect them from their environment. One species has evolved into obese cranial fatheads with thin skin in comparison that whines about anything and everything as their shield against their environment. Meus
