Went to the sports store for primers today, New Handi in 7mm08 on sale for 209.00
Must -- --  fight  --  -- temptation! :-X

you need more rifled, you need more rifles, youneed more rifles. 


Is the 7-08 a reasonable caliber for you to use?  Since it is new, it will be extractor.  Remember, you too will need new dies, another set of bullets, and more powder, and another scope and rings.


The alternatives are buying a barrel only, or doing without.


One of the fun things with a neww caliber is working up a load and sighting it in.  A dedicated receiver is a plus.

When I already had two Handi 7mm-08s I bought a third one used for 195.....only 14 bucks less than your new one.  Are you telling us it's still there???  There may actually be hope for you in the real world. :o ::)

I tell ya, lord I don't need another handi and I sure have allot on my plate these days BUT I would have bought that in a new york minute!!  ::)
 
That same day, I would have Packaged it up and sent the barrel to Larry to turn a rim into it. Then order another 100 pcs of 307 brass.  ;) ;)  Then start making bullets... I would have myself a 7/08R!!

Yeah, I know the feeling......  I went in to a shop a couple of months ago and they had a used (but new looking) 7-08 for $149.  They didn't have it when I walked out.  I didn't need it, I don't load for that caliber etc.  I still haven't shot it.  I am looking at all my stray scopes trying to figure out what to put on it.

The first thing I did when you said you did not buy it for that price was to see if I lived near you. I have wanted a 7mm-08 to go along with my other 7mm Handis, a 7x57, and a couple of .280 Remingtons (one long barrel and one shorty) I would really like a 7mm-08 as well. Alas, you live too far away to make the trip a financial success....<><....:)
 
P.S. - go back and buy it!!! 7mm's are great!!!

As far as investing in all the add ons, the only thing I dont have is brass & dies. Starline & Lee can fix that real easy.
I already own a 280 in a custom Mauser, bullets on the shelf already.

Well. I had another look at it on the way home.
I was wrong about the price, it wasnt 209.00
but it was 200.14. I had some forgotten money in my paypal account,
its now on layaway  :P 8)

Looking forward to getting it out of hock, should be fun!
