Interesting article on single moms

Interesting article. Key factoid is that now over 50% of mothers under age 30 are single mothers.

I know several single Moms.  Some are divorced and better off with out their Ex-husbands.  Others were just a wild child.  Nothing Mom and Dad tried worked, the kid knew best.  They ran off from home, got into drugs, smoking, drinking, then turned up pregnant.  Suddenly all their friends won't have any thing to do with her, especially the man she thinks got her that way.

The two I personally know have cleaned up their act.  Got a job, an apartment, and put the kid in day care while she is at work.  They are not looking for a man in their life.  If one comes along, he will have to meet some very high standards, comparable to the only man in their life that was a good man, their adopted Father.

One young wild child followed in her mothers foot steps.  Her mother had done the same thing.  After living with a baby for a few years, she found a good man, married him and had more children.  Only the oldest was a wild child, the younger ones did not follow in big sisters foot steps.  Interesting case, the Grandma had done the same thing.  Ran off, had a baby, supported herself and the baby for a few years, then met Mr Right, and got married.  I knew all three women when they were growing up.  They all had loving caring parents, and lived in a nice middle class home, with everything they needed.

I ask myself why?
Where is old Joe when we really need him?  Alaska Independence    Calling Illegal Immigrants "Undocumented Aliens" is like calling Drug Dealers "Unlicensed Pharmacists"
What Is A Veteran?
A 'Veteran' -- whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve -- is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America,' for an amount of 'up to, and including his life.' That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country today who no longer understand that fact.

To bad that the fathers don't look at the long term. Just looking at a good time for a short time. I enjoy being a dad. My boys are getting to that stage where I can be a friend sometimes, but a dad all the time. Just a couple months ago, my oldest,(he's 13, almost 6' tall and just over 200lbs.) said a smart remark to me, in a kidding way. I was sitting in the office chair at the 'puter.(the one I'm in now). He said something about me being a fat,old bald guy. I told him if he helped me out of the chair, I'd knock him on his a**. His reply was,''I guess I'd better not help you out of that chair!!" I would have choked on my coffee if I had been drinking any. Sorry to say it, but this single mom thing will probably turn around and bite them in the butt in the long term. gypsyman

The thing that strikes me about this is that it used to pretty much require a family to raise and support kids. Financially you needed somebody working. Somebody needed to take care of home and family. The dynamics of that have changed to the point where there are incentives to be a single parent.

It makes me wonder about some of the choices I make. I work hard and long. It seems like if you can make a decent living with the burdens of being a single mom, life must be pretty good around here for those that don't work long and hard. Either that or the kids don't see their mother very much.

That is a long, useless article when it could have been said in few words "THIS COUNTRY HAS GONE TO HELL, ITS OVER."

I always appreciate a "quote" or a brief summary with link to avoid digging into something long and useless. ear
