« on: January 23, 2004, 10:40:26 AM »
I have been looking at this cartridge for some time. Does anyone know if it was ever offered in a 12" Hunter barrel? Has anyone used it for hunting?
Any info would be greatly appreciated.
thanks,
Bill

Hello TNWILL,

I don't know if this will be of help to you since it's not the exact cartridge you're wondering about, but the 41 GNR #2 by Gary Reeder is the 445 Super Mag necked down to .41 caliber.

I own one with a 13" barrel and it has a muzzle brake - I can guarantee you that within 100-150 yards and with a good shot in the boiler room, you shouldn't have any trouble flattening any animal in the 48 states and probably a lot of light skinned African game.  The 41 GNR #2 hits very hard and I can only assume that the 445 Super Mag would be equally devastating at the shorter ranges if not more so due to generally heavier bullets being available.

I hope this is of some help.

Safe and good shooting to you!   :D
