I need help choosing a high-powered scope for my new Savage .223 and I don't know what to get.  It will be used mainly for hunting diggers and I would like to spend around $300. Thanks

If you can spend $400, I would really recommend the Nikon Monarch 6.5-20x44.  They are an excellent scopes.  Very bright and clear.  You would not be disappointed.

Bushnell Elite 4200 4-16X40mm.  $330 from theOpticZone.  That's what I have on my .223 Encore barrel.

Thats what I use on my 22-250 varmint gun and would reccommend it fully. Excellant scope with good optics and great tracking that comes with a sunshade.

I have used MANY scopes in the 4-16 to 6-24 range on CF rifles and air rifles.  These include Bushnells 4-16X50 4200 and 6-24X40 4200; Weavers V-16, V-24, and Grand Slam 6-20; Sightrons 4-16X42 and 6-24X42; Burris Signature 6-24; Leupolds 6-20EFR and 6-20LRT; Swifts 6-18X44, 6-24X50, and 8-32X50; Simmons 6-2044Mag; and a Zeiss Conquest 6-20X44.  There are a LOT of similar quality scopes here.  Weavers V series SHOULD come with a sunshade considering the price they are now getting but they don't or they would be a good one for you to consider...  The scopes I constantly am going back to that are sort of in your price range are the Bushnell 4200 6-24X40 and the Leupold EFR 6-20.  The Bushnell can be had for ~$350.00 if you know where to look and is THE bargain of the QUALITY 6-24 varmint scopes.  I don't believe you can beat it.
