I'm with Cotton on this one only I thin a quart of white Rustoleum and dip mine. Quart of paint is cheaper than buying several cans of spray paint. There are a lot of guys who set theirs right out of the box and still catch coon. I paint mine just to keep them from rusting because it just seems the thing to do.  Guy could certianly dye and wax them right in with other traps if you were so inclined. Wouldn't hurt a thing fars as I could tell.

No wax. I did dip a few in formula 1, that were VERY rusty. Mine are white off snow, black on snow, and mostly NEON pink on private land and road lines. This allows me to check faster (from the truck)...Waiting for Lee to make fun of my PINK DP. LOL!

Never gave much thought to pink? I may try that myself. I have some places where the white seems to blend in and I have to stare to find them. I used light blue marker ribbons this fall for the first time because pink and orange blended to well with fall leaves. Maybe I'll do some DPs in a bright light blue??

Lee......Leave Cindy alone!  ;D

Mac.......Neon(any color) or blaze orange stands out so well, that you can check sets faster. On foot or in the truck. I have never had a theft problem on the road line. If someone wanted traps, they would just stop at every culvert in S Wis. the first two weeks of the season. TOO many trappers out there to allow stolen traps at this time. 8)

Hey PackerFan
I think we're missing something here. We should apply for a large goverment grant to research what color DP coon respond best to. I think for say a million and I'll split it with you. We can come to some finnal conclusion that coon will grab out of any color DP stuffed with anything from fish to twinkies. I think my 500.000.00 may cover the cost of gas next fall?? never know? I do believe though that Avocado was a 70s thing.
Doesn't really matter what the project is or the out come it's a research grant:-) Should be able to get that work done at that cost in a week or so next fall? if it akes longer than that we can get more money on and extention I would think LOL!
It's all about the science.

Good thinking Mac! The results of such tests could get the economy back on track. But, only 1 million? Wall Street fat cats blow that on booze and women in a weekend. LOL!
