  Louisville, Ky. (WHAS11)- Five protesters were hauled off to jail over the weekend after a protest turned violent.

It all played out in front of the Chase Bank in the Highlands.

Some of those protesters are due in court on Monday.

WHAS11's Gene Kang went to Founder's Square to get more details from the protesters.

A local poll shows an 86%  approval of the police action. These scum were denying entry to the bldg. Founders square is still a campground. I hope they remove ALL of the trash. POWDERMAN.

I am hearing that alot of violence is planned for summer with heavy Union involvement. We shall see.

  LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- The man charged with assaulting an LMPD officer on Saturday at an Occupy Louisville protest outside Chase bank in the Highlands bonded out of jail Monday night.

Donald James Baum was one of five people arrested after the protest turned violent.

“I know violence isn’t the answer, but sometimes you have to say, ‘Hey, you can't push me around,’” Baum said.

Many protesters claimed police antagonized them. Baum said at the time of the incident he was trying to stop someone from getting hit.

“I did something I shouldn’t have, but I believe what I did was right," Baum said.

Mayor Greg Fisher said the city has been accommodating to Occupy protesters and they can demonstrate, but only if it’s done peacefully.

“Yes. People can be heard, but they need to be heard and demonstrate in a peaceful way,” Fisher said.
Police have reviewed the video and defend their actions.

Occupy protesters have another demonstration planned for Wednesday night outside of the KFC Yum! Center.
