GOA Letter to Romney
« on: February 28, 2012, 05:05:26 AM »
"The G.O.A. once again asks Mitt to respond to their questionnaire"

An Open Letter to Governor Mitt Romney
Dear Governor Romney,
At the recent Conservative political Action Conference, you said in a speech that you were “severely conservative” as Governor of Massachusetts.
Are you still severely conservative? Because if you are, why don’t you answer the Gun Owners of America questionnaire on Second Amendment issues of concern to “conservative,” “moderate,” and even some “liberal” Americans.
We sent you a questionnaire not once, not twice but three times now. What did you send back? A form letter stating you are pro-Second Amendment -- with absolutely nothing to back up this laughable claim.
As Governor, you were proudly anti-Second Amendment, but as you have with most issues, you have now changed your stripes to spots.
Do you want to clear up this possible misconception I (and most members of Gun Owners of America) have about you?
If you do, then call me at (916) 984-1400.
Even better, why don’t you fill out one of the THREE GOA questionnaires we’ve sent to you so that millions of American gun owners will know where you stand?
Love to hear from you.
Sincerely,
Tim Macy
Vice Chairman
Gun Owners of America

But he has Ted Nugent's endorsement ::)

From Ted Nugent's facebook page:

"I know many of you disagree, I respectuflly beseach you all to reconsider, and join me to rid the US gvt of the gang of enemies infesting our great country. After much heart & soul searching research & prayer, I gave the greenlight to the Romney team to pass my ph# to Mitt Romney, and he called me today. We spoke at length. Im sure I dont have to repeat what I said to him here, surely self evident... truths are universally known & understood here. That being said, I demanded and he indeed did pledge the following- 1-no more restrictions on any gun or ammo ownership, no AWB BS, and that he would push with us to eliminate all anti 2A restrictions currently in place. 2- he would stand with us solidly for we the people hunting, fishing & trapping rights, fighting to backdown the feds from wasting tax dollars slaughtering our wildlife with our tax dollars instead of the rightful owners of said wildlife rights to utilize them as assets instead of forced bureaucrat liabilities. He also vowed to stack the SCOTUS with Constitution respecting Americans. For a change. We spoke of other critical upgrades, and I felt good about his proclaiments. So I officially endorsed him for POTUS. Plz take a deep breath, think hard, and join me for the fight of our lives for the soul of America."

More talk of hunting rights in a discussion about 2a issues wich  has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with hunting or hunters.

No mention of the right to firearms ownership for personal defense.

Yes I am fully prepared to abstain from voting or to write in. (Pretty much a vote for Obama) I am not going to have electing a gun banning liberal on my voter concence.

Well, let's see. If that's the case then it will boil down to either voting for a known gun grabber who signed socialist healthcare into law or a known gun grabber who signed socialist healthcare into law. I choose option C, none of the above.

Well just wondering...since Romney represented Mas. as governor, then as a senator...what happened to THEIR gun rights and right to self defense?  I mean really, what did he do for them?  I don't remember him in the news fighting for their right to carry and right to self defense which they do not have(their first priority is to RUN)...heck, they have to go by a list of approved guns just to get one across their state lines?

So I'm just asking...what in the heck can he do for anyones gun rights if he could not get them for the state he represented all those many years.  Seems to me he made NO waves at all either...never herd him fighting for their rights in the news.

I hope Mas. is not a good example

Romney signed a law to permanently ban many semi-automatic "assault" weapons in Mass.

For that alone I will not vote for Mitt under any circumstance. I can overlook certain things when it comes to voting for a candidate but they have to be pro 2nd Amendment in order to earn my vote. This man is anti 2nd and has a long voting record to prove it.

Then I suggest you start pulling for santotum like a mad man. Because with us voters who actually have principles that trump party lines or our hatred of Obama. Romney is fatally flawed as a canadate.

R.W.Dale,  excellent post, sir.    You speak truth and wisdom.   I am a Santorum man, happily voted for him in Florida primary.   However, we must all line up and vote against Imam Obama and his agenda for the destruction of this nation.

All these people that call themselves principled individuals that claim they will never vote for Romney have a fatal case of myopia. Fidelity to personal ideas is laudable, but there are also the principles of patriotism and love of freedom, and having the willingness to defend her from all enemies, foreign and domestic.

Romney may be the candidate, and he may not be the candidate.    Those who say they will never vote for Romney [if he is GOP candidate] and stay home contribute to the demise of America, and as such could be called collaborators.

VERY WELL PUT!!!!!!!!  I serously doubt if Obama gets a second Term (and I dont want him to) he will flush the toilet.  He may try, but I serously doubt he will succeed.  I also agree that voting for a man that is against the second ammendment is voting for soemone that is not about what America is or is founded on.  There is a saying that we need to take the lesser of two evils.  I believe that Obama and Romney are equal evils on opposite ends of the scale.  Neither one will get my vote- I can promise you that.

I'm sorry.....too many people have suggested that an unprincipled vote is better than what we have. I would suggest that unprincipled voting has gotten us to this pass we are facing!

I will vote my conscience........NOT for Romney. DO not try to blame me if Obama wins....rather, blame yourselves!

BTW, don't blame me if Romney wins either........you will regret that too!

when RP was asked to say something nice about a fellow candidate, he just got nasty.
when asked if he would support the nominee, he got nasty.  I really can't see any difference in his arrogance and obamas arrogance.  if congress didn't knuckle under, he would get nasty and throw fits.
he would MAYBE be effective in someones cabinet, but if he's like some of his supporters, he still wouldn't get along in that capacity.
I voted for Santorum because of RPs attitude.
of course, Matt says everything I say is un-american.
back to the OP, RP would pass the buck to the likes of jerry brown and his girly men.

For the sake of your argument, let's say Romney gets the nomination then along comes the general election. Should I vote for the candidate who has an anti gun voting record and signed Socialist healthcare into law, or should I vote for the candidate who has an anti gun voting record and signed Socialist healthcare into law?

Please answer that question for me.

It is not that I like Romney, I love my country more.   Personally, I prefer Santorum.   Yet, I stand by my words.   This election will the most significant campaign since the election of 1860.  Again, our nation hangs in the balance.    Just remember the words of Edmund Burke as the election gets closer.

Doublebass73,

I did answer your question, you chose not to listen to my answer.  However, the answer is very simple.....anyone but Obama.   Obama intends to destroy this country -- remember his promise "to fundamentally transform" this nation.  If you still choose not to listen to my answer, that is up to you.     As a reminder of Obama's agenda, click on the following link to another thread on GBO:

ST762

OK, so you're advocating that I vote for a known Socialist gun grabber. I get it now.

If you want to vote for him that's fine, it's your right. I'm choosing to vote for the candidate who is closest to my beliefs. I'm against Socialism and I'm very pro 2nd Amendment so that rules out Romney and Obama. That puts me into 3rd party territory.

In the past I voted for what you're advocating, anybody but the Democrat. I was cheap whore for the Republican party which at the time had a very strong pimp hand over me. I kept voting for liberal Republicans like Bush I, Bush II and Juan McAmnesty. Each time I hoped that if I could just hang in there then next time we'd get a real fiscal conservative. Around comes this election and the choices are a Socialist gun grabber and a Socialist gun grabber. No thanks, I'm done turning tricks for the Republican party. If they ever decide to nominate a conservative then maybe I'll come back. In the meantime don't blame me because your Republican party is going to nominate a Socialist.

It's an awful sad state of affairs when Republicans are criticizing others for being unwilling to vote for a Socialist gun grabber. It's sad that members of a pro 2nd Amendment forum ar criticizing others for not being willing to vote for the guy who said these quotes:

"We do have tough gun laws in Massachusetts. I support them. I won’t chip away at them. I believe they help protect us and provide for our safety."

"I don't line up with the NRA"

“These guns are not made for recreation or self-defense, they are instruments of destruction with the sole purpose of hunting down and killing people.”

Thats the biggest problem that I have with reps.  There are so many sub groups of them that they spend all fo their time fighting between them.  Meanwhile, you have the dems just standing by watching the reps tear each other apart-shaprening their teeth to tear into the constitution.  The republican party is as far right as the dems are left.  My dad used to tell me that the republicans were the defenders of the constitution.  After Bush II and watching this rich snob Romney, my dad has seen that reps are just as evil as dems.

It's all a hot mess...........
