Because, although he was correct in his initial assement, he's just a neocon entertainer and needs to suck up to the establishment.

You do not get to pick and choose what your taxes pay for. If you do, I want my DOD money back, right now. I want all of my DEA/ drug enforcement money back. I want all of my Homeland security money back. I want all of my money that went for tax credits and subsidies for the oil companies back. I want any money paid to fertility clinics, ICU bills for ridiculously premature infants, maintenance for people in a persistent vegetative state, or to pay for boner pills back.
Then I can pay for something worthwhile, like cancer research, a renewed space program, programs to entice or force people to build tornado proof homes in high risk areas. I can go for that.

We may not as individuals get to pick and choose exactly where our tax money is spent, but so far, we still have the freedom of speech and we can let it be known when they (the liberals) push their commie policies too far.  I absolutely agree with Rush's original assessment of the obviously lame testimony of the lady stooge from Georgetown U.  Rush forgot that only liberals are allowed to use certain words in condemning the beliefs of those who differ.  Rush ain't no Bill Maher.

Heck no, he didn't mean it. Well, maybe he did.... no, I don't think so. Multiple advertisers have pulled out, and Rush doing a little damage control.
https://www.facebook.com/CarboniteOnlineBackup/posts/10150573840040976
What he's done is violate Florida law, and set up his fat Oxycontin- and Viagra-poppin' butt for a lawsuit he will probably lose. That, along with the advertisers pulling out, are what have prompted his flaccid, unpersuasive 'apology'

A friend of mine made these points:
• Ms Fluke did not discuss personal sexual activities of any sort before members of Congress, recreational or otherwise. She explained how a friend of hers relied on birth control medicine to treat her polycystic ovarian syndrome. There was nothing sexual about it.
• Using birth control medication does not mean sexual activity. My best friend in college was on BC to regulate her hormones for a skin condition years before ever engaging in any sexual activity. The two are not synonymous.
• American citizens pay for their own birth control, not anyone else's; eliminating a co-pay -- as most policies already do for men's ED medications (which actually IS used only for "sexual activities") -- does not have anything to do with some sort of taxpayer-subsidized birth control program.
• Knowing or not knowing "what is going on in anyone’s bedroom" is a classic strawman, since such a thing has nothing to do with the issue. The issue is equal treatment under the law, and that's all the issue is.
Jesus said we should treat other as we'd want to be treated... and he didn't qualify that by their party affiliation, race, or even if they're of diff religion.

Ah yes! And a gynocologist on the news last night pointed out that spending 3000 bucks a year for that was simply stupid. The same pill is available as a generic for about 9 bucks a month......or free at any birth control clinic and most hospitals. ::)

This is all a big smokescreen anyway.  The original subject, was can the government force a religious institution to pay for something it finds immoral..ie Catholic Georgtown U. paying for birth control.

As was posted, someone who can come up with $40,000 to attend law school there, can surely find the $10.00 a month for birth control.

Rush in trying to make a point, sometimes goes way overboard.  While I feel this young woman was a political stooge, she should not have been personated.

Here is his full statement.
For over 20 years, I have illustrated the absurd with absurdity, three hours a day, five days a week.  In this instance, I chose the wrong words in my analogy of the situation. I did not mean a personal attack on Ms. Fluke.
I think it is absolutely absurd that during these very serious political times, we are discussing personal sexual recreational activities before members of Congress. I personally do not agree that American citizens should pay for these social activities. What happened to personal responsibility and accountability? Where do we draw the line? If this is accepted as the norm, what will follow? Will we be debating if taxpayers should pay for new sneakers for all students that are interested in running to keep fit?In my monologue, I posited that it is not our business whatsoever to know what is going on in anyone's bedroom nor do I think it is a topic that should reach a Presidential level.
My choice of words was not the best, and in the attempt to be humorous, I created a national stir. I sincerely apologize to Ms. Fluke for the insulting word choices.
In the 1920's "sheeple" was a term coined by the National Socialist Party in Germany to describe people that would not vote for Hitler. In the 1930's they held Hitler as the only one that would bring pride back to Germany and bring the budget and economy back.....

Yeah? Go back and read the text of what he said, or better, LISTEN to it. Rush is a cynical liar, here, and shameless.

The young lady he trashed and insulted on his national radio show did not discuss 'personal sexual recreational activities' while she was before Congress.

I believe that Rush was right in his original statement. I believe he meant everyword in his appology.
I also believe that that young woman opened the door to any and everything that comes her way when she went to Congress and testified in a public hearing about having to pay for birthcontrol...
There was a time not long ago that sort of behavior would not of been accepted as it is now.
I also believe that the double standards the left and left leaning types loose any and all credibility when they fail to condemn the outrageous statements made by Mahr,Letterman, Franken, etal, directed at "conservative" people...
In the 1920's "sheeple" was a term coined by the National Socialist Party in Germany to describe people that would not vote for Hitler. In the 1930's they held Hitler as the only one that would bring pride back to Germany and bring the budget and economy back.....

I'll guess you didn't read the text of what she actually said... am I right on that?
Rush's bit about 'recreational sex' has nothing to do with Fluke's testimony... that's him putting stink on her for his purposes.

What behavior - sex? Using birth control? put me down as being in favor of both.

Rush's 'apology' was a self-serving bit of damage control, nothing more.

I used to listen to Rush but not much anymore. I know I am not as conservative as some here but I am sure not as liberal as others either. To me it is not so much what he said as it is the manner in which he said it. Being disrespectful is something that I was taught is always wrong. That is what it seemed to me,  disrespectful. mrcooper in a different thread said today is his 75th birthday, I have a 100 dollar bill that says if anyone said that about his wife or daughter or grand daughter you would be hooked up in a heart beat. BUGEYE needs a cane to get around, I bet if someone said something like that to one of his family the sound of the cane hitting the side of the head would be ringing for a while. I don't have a daughter but I have a daughter in law, as sweet a girl as you could ever meet. If someone said that to her I can't guarantee the outcome but we would roll in the dirt. Maybe it is just the way I was raised but being disrespectful is just plain wrong. Being disrespectful behind a microphone is just as wrong.

When Sandra Fluke gave this public testimony http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vwWNh_4QAAk in front of a Congressional committee, in an effort to aid and assist the the continued assualt by the left and current adminstration on the freedom of religion and other faucets of the constitution, she should expect no less than what she recieved.
After all look at the horrendous things said about Limbaugh, Beck, Palen and other convervatives. Why should the leftist expect any different than wha they give.
Yes I think Rush was sincere in his appology, I do not think his general premise was wrong.

Rush is an arrogant blow hard. Personally I cant stand him but...
Rush should have waited to deliver his apology at the same press conference where Bill Maher was going to deliver his apology for all of the degrading things he has said about Sarah Palin.....oh wait that's right Bill Maher is never going to apologize. Silly Rush! Freedom of speech is for liberals only!

Limbaugh is a blowhard., pure and simple. I haven't listened to him since before Desert Storm happened and very little before that. If offered the choice of a root canal and listening to him for a week I would head on down to the dentist. He said what he thought would resonate well with his listeners and evidently it did with a lot of them. He was out of line. I don't agree with the young ladies position about birth control at all but he could have delivered the same message using better language. Now his words have come back to bite him in the billfold. His sponsers aren't going to stand behind him if it's going to cost them a dime. Seven have already dropped him. As soon as this blows over he will pick up more . It won't hurt him but for a short time and he will still be there for those that have to have their daily Limbaugh fix.

I'm betting the outfits that dropped their advertising will hurt more than Rush.Rush's audience is large and almost fanatical. They won't likely treat companies well they feel didn't play well with Rush.

If they are needed for health reasons as much as BPM and insulin, ALL should have access to them.

All already do.  We even supply free birth control to folks in other countries....from our tax base.  The issue is, should the catholics be FORCED to provide them?

BC can be bought for $9.00 a month.  The woman had no problem getting them.  This is a smokescreen to inforce the government's will on an unwilling subject, the Catholic church.

It seems to me there are some people here who are very critical of someone they profess not to listen to.  I listen every day and will continue.  Rush is not perfect, but he is entertaining.  If you really want to hear something to get outraged over, try any of the liberal talk shows.  If you want to hear someone who really lays it on the line, try Mark Levin; he makes Rush sound quite mellow.  Even Sean Hannity is more edgy than Rush, but Rush is a bigger target and has to cover his backside.

It also seems to me that there is much too much attention given to the foibles of talk show hosts and such, when we have an absolute scourge in the White House who has all but guaranteed the economic destruction of this country.  The news media is guilty of deflection and complicity for not focusing on the real threats to our country--the liberals, the worst president this country has ever suffered and an absolutely disfunctional Senate.

So Rush got his name all over the news , people are saying his name . Its all to his advantage in the long run. He is an entertainer pure and simple. Shock jock comes to mind  ;) . I have to add I don't think highly of a woman that goes before congress and begs for the rest of us to pay for her birth control so she can have sex out of wedlock. Rush's acessment may not be far off the opinion of many listners.

Just to play devil's advocate here I ask this question: Would you rather pay for her birth control now or pay later for her to sit on her ass collecting welfare for her 7 babies from 8 different baby daddies until they are 18?

Point being either way tax payers get screwed because of someone being irresponsible.
