(WHAS11) -- Police in Southern Indiana said they have arrested a man after he was caught looting damaged homes in Henryville.
Police said homeowners caught Matthew Smith of New Jersey cutting copper out of a home on Pine Drive around 2:30 p.m. Smith tried to run into a wooded area but police quickly caught up with him.
Smith has been charged with felony burglary after police said he admitted to chopping the copper so other people would not steal it - he is being held without bond.

A good friend of my son's is a cop.  He called my son before sunset the day of the storm to tell him he couldn't believe they had already had reports of looters.  There were a handful of folks who chose to stand guard over what little they had left and I won't repeat what they were told but suffice it to say most here would consider what they were told as favorable.  I guess this idiot slipped through.  He has no idea how lucky he is.

Maybe it was his idea of a vacation. I hope he enjoys his iron bar Hotel 6. He is lucky he didn't get shot or the crap beat out of him, not that he didn't deserve it. I really do not like to wish violence on most but looters...... What lowlife is correct.

Don't know how the scum ended up here. Looters should be shot on site. I'm guessing it was maybe 15 years ago a county to the East of me got hit bad. I was listening to a state cop begging dispatch for help because he couldn't stop all of the looters, they told him they had nobody to send. Maybe 5 min later the same cop, much calmer, told dispatch that the area was under control. After the call went out he said car and truck loads of citizens poured in to stop the looters. Dispatch said, are they armed, cop said, yes sir, and very well. Yesterday a local Church made up 3,000 sack lunches for the victims and workers. POWDERMAN.

LMAO.  Ya know, there are times when street justice is THE BEST TYPE OF JUSTICE.  Did the cops intervene or let the civilians retake what was their's?

SWIFT ONE. I knew some of the guys handling the situation. When looters were caught they got a real beating then arrested. The police stood by and let justice be served and there were no repercussions or lawsuits by the low life thieves. POWDERMAN.
