Question about reboring a barrel
« on: March 08, 2012, 03:53:34 PM »
I see lots of questions about reboring a barrel.
Is it cheaper to have a barrel rebored than to purhase a new barrel and have it cut and chambered?  I assume the cost are not that far apart and maybe the new barrel option is often less expensive.
Need someone to set me straight on this issue.

There's too much variaability in prices to make hard and fast guidelines. Reboring is sometimes best if one wishes to preserve some of the rifles original markings. Most of the time rebores shoot fine but usually will not shoot with the best of the new barrels available.
