CUSTOM GRIP/STOCK/HANDLE MAKERS
« on: March 09, 2012, 01:16:59 AM »
This a rant aimed at those who advertise to be CUSTOM grip makers but who are, IN FACT, just cookie cutters.
I have spent the better part of 3/4 weeks trying to find a person who can make custom stocks for my Colt Python.
YES--I want them out of material of my choice and made to fit my gun--which I will send them for the make. I want target grips.
There are none--read, NONE---who can do this.
By all that is Holy--how can they say they make custom grips.
Bunch or internet liars is my response.
Thanks for the time----I feel better now.
Blessings

Over the years some words have lost their meaning and others have
been confused.  The word custom is one that no longer means what
it did.  Just to set the record straight I offer a couple examples to help
clarify the proper definition.

So I just found out...  :(

After Rick's post I emailed him about Ivory paper macarta grips for my Navy's.  I got this terse reply: "Richard, sorry don't have paper micarta.
regards Don"   Oh well,at least he answered me... ::)

I have never made a set of grips for a handgun before but am pretty sure I could if you have a set of grips that fit it now. That way I could make the part the conects to the gun fit just like the one you have now. I would probably want to give it a try on a scrap piece of wood first to even see if I could do it. Then move on to the real piece of wood that you would like it made from. Dale
