Blind Ear, Cuts Crooked, powderman, well-spoken, gentlemen.    Those of us who know the truth of such things shall always be persecuted by the sympathizers, collaborators, and apologists.   We stand between the darkness of sharia Islam and the light of justice, tolerance, and freedom.

The thread is about a 'ground zero mosque' - but there ain't no such thing. There is an Islamic cultural center a couple blocks away, if I understand correctly. Why do the ideologues & haters keep calling it a 'ground zero mosque'? Whassup wit dat? Is there a limit on where Muslims can own property in NYC, without calling it ground zero? Is Manhattan off limits?

Here's a good purpose in that mosque being there: one of the things is shows is that not all Americans has fallen victim to xenophobic hysteria. That's good news, right?

YT - I'm sure you know the difference, but an "Islamic cultural center" is a mosque, the only difference is it's operated by Shiites, "mosques" are operated by Sunni's, so;
Islamic cultural center = mosque, different name, same difference. "Ground zero" is by definition that part of Manhattan within  ten block radius of the old WTC.  That mosque you are referring to is within two short blocks of the WTC site.  Contrary to what you are suggesting, Manhattan is the location of the Islamic cultural center, the largest mosque in the city, on the upper east side, (see link).  So please don't imply that Manhattan is off limits to mosques.  The ground zero mosque is a matter of great sensitivity to New Yorkers.  It's the same as if someone decided to build a church in Mecca, Saudi Arabia near the Kaaba.  I'm pretty sure the muslims would welcome that.

I wasn't aware of that ten-block radius definition; thanks. I'll guess that THAT part of Manhattan is off-limits to Muslims.

I eoubt that, and you know better  - the Saudis don't like churches anywhere. Still, I like to think that we Americans - even New Yorkers? - are more tolerant on the subject of religious freedom than are those Wahhabis of Saudi Arabia, but... maybe some of us are not.
Jesus said we should treat other as we'd want to be treated... and he didn't qualify that by their party affiliation, race, or even if they're of diff religion.
