What we have lost..to "progress"..
« on: March 10, 2012, 12:54:30 PM »
I can see where it may be difficult for some younger folks to see just how much freedom has been robbed from us.  Honestly, most people used to believe this way, even the public schools.  Yes; there were corrections to be made, such as Jim Crow and some other forms of prejudice, but progress was being made..even back in 1948. Other than those negatives, we were a much better, more courteous, polite and FREE society
For those of us who have lived through the intervening years, the loss of freedom is starkly clear.
  This explanatory cartoon was made in 1948 and so fits our concerns of today.  You can fit your own characters.  For me, the guy called "John Q Public" is obviously "Joe the plumber..  Here is the great, and accurate.. history lesson;

Still more corrections to come.
Jesus said we should treat other as we'd want to be treated... and he didn't qualify that by their party affiliation, race, or even if they're of diff religion.

Now, Dr. Utopia's ISM has become the norm, and people don't even know what they are doing to themselves, their kids, and their kids kids, by signing off on it. I guess you can't blame them. If it is the norm to drink Dr. utopia's ISM, how could there ever be anything wrong by joining the drunks? Right?

Has the similarity of the current OCCUPIER of the White House to Dr. Ism gone over everybody's head?  Even the physical characteristics are a match.  It is as if that whole cartoon was just developed yesterday, rather than 64 years ago, and just to fit our current situation.  I was watching to see if the teleprompters might show up in the corners of the screen.  Amazing!

The new "corrections" will not be "corrections, but rather "adjustments" to fit the Socialists Utopia. I hope no one expects me to fall-in with this, I reckon not. ;)

First thing we have is a problem with the Terms.
Progressive means: one that progresses the communist take over of the country.
Moderate mean: Socialist.
Extreme right wing: any one right of the Moderates.
Religous right: anyone who has faith and convictions.

What we have lost ... to "progress" ..

- self-sufficiency. I wish I knew how to do 1/2 the things my grand parents did.
- respect ... for others, for others' property, for authority, for experience/wisdom
- attention span.
- quality relationships.

I personally think we've lost our will to live, due to progress. We've tried to make things so easy for us, we have nothing to push against to keep us alive. Half the draw of politics is that it gets the blood flowing.

People can still choose to be self sufficient.  Although it's more of a hobby these days than it was in the past.
I'm voting 3rd party in this election by writing in Jesus Christ for president.  Sadly even if this were an option most of you would still vote Republican because "It's a two party system."

Ever go to church and when the preacher delivers his sermon, you swear he is directing his sermon at you?If he is doing his job, it should feel this way.
The same thing with the occupier of the White House. If your a Republican, Ism would fit Obama. If a Democrat, Ism would appear to be Bush. Those of us that follow the Libertarian brand of politics, see TWINS (Joined at the lip) ;)

What I did learn from their generation has sure come in handy, and I wish they were still alive so I could learn more. I've been making knives for the past year and keep trying to think what my Grandpa would do when I get stuck trying something.

I have 2 items from my forebears that I cherish as symbols. 1) an 1897 Iver Johnson Safety Hammerless that will still put all 5 in a pie plate at 10 paces. 2) a gold watch my grandfather received as a high school graduation present after the turn of the century. Both are symbols of progress, but both are durable and valuable still functioning as the day they were made, and every man would have been presumed to carry both at all times, at least where my family lived.

Today those symbols would be an iPad and keys to a Prius - how far we have come.
