You are required to have a photo ID to do almost everything. I've been asked for a photo ID, or have had to ask customers for a photo ID, to buy booze, tobacco, medications, to get food stamps, to use WIC checks, to cash a check, to cash a Social Security check, to cash a welfare check, to get on a Grayhound Bus, to get on an airplane, to get on an AMTRAK train, to use a credit card, to rent a car, to access my checking account at the bank, to pick up my vehicle at the repair shop, Game Enforcement Officers when checking fishing licenses, Police at a traffic stop, and Hospital Emergency Rooms.
So don't try and tell me there are people out there that have never done any of those things. With all the documents listed in A.B.C.and D. again don't tell me they don't have what is required. Everybody that has legally lived in the US for any period of time will have many of those documents. I bet those people used as examples have IDs, they just want to claim discrimination, or are being encouraged to hide their IDs so they can be used as an example. They are reporting that many counties in Texas don't have stations to issue drivers license. That is true, there is no towns of any size in those counties. Again don't tell me those people don't ever go to the bigger towns, where they could get an ID. I've spent too much time living and working in Texas.
If you don't have a birth Certificate, most states will accept an entry in the Family Bible. When I went to register for elementary school, many kids did not have a birth certificate. They brought in the Family Bible and was admitted to school. Most states issue a state ID card to residents that do not drive. Mine was $5.00, I got it so when I go to senior functions they don't have to sit there and count up the years to see that I am over 62. And if I want to ride the city bus, I flash that Senior ID and the ride is free.
If a person is so out of the main stream of living, and so out of touch, they have to be totally illiterate. They would not know who to vote for, and would probably not be voting anyway. If they did they would have to be told who to vote for, or make a wild guess.
My mother is one of those people that is so uninformed she has to be told who to vote for. She is a Yellow Dog Democrat, but she don't always know who the Democrat is that is running. She will ask my brother who to vote for at each election. She knows better than to ask me. I'm the Black Sheep of the family. But she has three or four Photo IDs.
