Does anyone ever respond to posts on this board?
« on: March 12, 2012, 09:06:58 AM »
I have posted on this board a few times, I am still new to this board,  and responces are few if any.  There are posts on here with hundreds of views and very few responses.  I am a member of the KahrTalk Forum and it is very busy.  Lots of information going back and forth.  People talk about problems, mods, reloads, technical questions and much more.  I would think that as great as Henry's are there would be a lot of conversation, maybe I am wrong.  I would like to talk to other Henry owners about this gun, I am getting a BB 357, but it doesn't look like you folks want to talk.  Please prove me wrong and start responding to these posts to show some interest.

sorry you are not having a good time here, I rarely look at the Henry board as my interests run more in the gardening, H&R, and gunsmithing areas.  I have a limited amount of time to be on line since I work 60 hours at my real job, run a mini or hobby farm, help dad with his cattle farm, and recently opened a gunsmith shop.  This time of year people have more going on than just what is going on in the on-line communities that through the winter are a pleasant diversion.

I know what you mean about being busy.  I also put in about 55 to 60 hours a week.  It is just that with some posts having hundreds of views and a couple of reply's it is strange.  If you have time to view take 30 seconds to make some kind of reply.  That isn't much.  I really look forward to getting my Henry today and want to talk with others that own them for advice and tips, etc.

Sorry DL..I just don't have any lever guns and don't see any in my future.  Nothing against them..but I gave my Marlin 39 to one grandson years ago and my 336 to another grandson after last big game season.
Those Henrys do have a silky smooth action though..

I view many posts that I never respond to.  I'm curious about lots of things but don't have the experience or knowledge to answer.  maybe others are that way too.

I thought that everyone on here owned or was buying a Henry, sorry Ironglow.  Is there any sub-forums for things like reloading, technical (gun related) issues, model related issues, optics, etc?

Could be slow where the seasons are changing. Myself I play with the guns and ammo in the bad weather months and mess with Corvairs in the good weather months.

Plenty of side topics on the opening page. There is always something going on here.

I stepped back a page and found the other topics.  There aren't anymore Henry only that I could find.  They were only general groups for all kinds of weapons.

The truth of the matter is that, while I'm a fan of the blued RF Henry leverguns, most folks are just not that much into them - Henry CF rifles in general, and FatBoys in particular.

For the non-FatBoy looker, there's millions of argueably better & inargueably less expensive Marlin 336's out there.

Soooo, 'could be that folks are listening to Mama: "If you can't say something nice, it's better to say nothing at all"

OK, so I guess I will have to look for another forum.  I will still check here but not rely upon it.  Thanks to all for your help.

I read but don't respond unless it's something I have some knowledge about. I own one henery a 22 mg lever octagon barell with a peep sight other than this rifle I have no experience with their other firearms. But this is my favorite lever gun I own,

I also own one Henry a 22 rimfire. I've not yet gotten to my range with it but eventually will post a review here. I really can't say when.

This particular forum is but one of prolly 150 likely more on this site. It is admittedly one of the lesser used forums here. We have forums for just about any and all topics you can imagine and we're a shooting, hunting, fishing, trapping general use outdoor site. We don't specialize in just one topic like many sites do so the traffic here depends on how many of our regular members want to talk about any given topic.

I have 3 of the .22 levers, a 22 mag, 22 LR standard model and a 22 LR Octagon barrel.  Love em, they get used alot!  the 22 LR was the first one and has spit thousands of empty cases on the ground.  I have 7 kids and when we go out to shoot, it's normal to go through one or two bricks of 22's an afternoon.  Zero problems with any of the 3 of them.  Last Sunday my wife and another couple and I went shooting with out kids and still went through a 550 rd box of Federals and a few boxes of 22 mags with 2 of the Henerys.  The 22 mag wears an old Tasco 1.5-5X20 scope and was pounding 6" rocks about 85-90 yd out off hand.  My wife hasn't shot in over 8 months and put 15 shots out of the 22LR into a 2" orange dot target off hand at 25 yd.  The centerfires seem to be to heavy for me, I like the Rossi 92's or the Marlin 1894 for pistol cartridges, they are much lighter.  DP

Thanks for the reply.  I have received my H006M (357) and am taking it to the range tomorrow to get sighted in.  I plan on running at least 100 rounds throuh it, 50-357 and 50 38 spcl.

I finally bought a .22 caliber Henry rifle a few months ago, and I have watched the online forums for years without much comment, just watching.  The rifle has been fun to shoot and trouble free.  The one lesson I learned about it is at first when I shot Super Colibris (low noise pest control round) I thought I had to hand feed them individually like on my Ruger 10/22 rifle into the chamber, a pain in the neck.

But on the Henry you can load them into the tube magazine and chamber them like normal, they are alittle more fussy about chambering compared to the regular .22 RF.  But man, it is fun to shoot them inside my living room as they are quiet and accurate, heck of a deal! :)   Be careful on penetration, use a fat phone book to stop the bullets.

Perhaps the lack of traffic on the Henry forum is a credit to the brand, because it has so few problems.  I did hear that some of their .22 mag "trombone" models had  a bit of problems though.  Anybody know anything about that ?

Alright, third try at posting this.  Yes, I can be computer challanged most of the time.  Anyway, I'm wondering how your range time wint with the new 357?  I really like shooting the 357 in a rifle, I have 5 levers and 2 Handi's that were reamed to the max. but still shoot the 357 mag.  Let us know how it went.  DP

I have had the gun to the range 3 times.  It is as accurate as I can be.  I added a scope which makes it even better.  So far I have about 400 rounds, 100 factory and 300 reloads, thru it without a problem.

I know that the one i bought new, was a misfireing, case sticking POS...  I sent it back to Henry and they strongly suggested that i take a lever in trade, saying i'd never be happy with their pump.  I did, and i AM happy with the 3 Henry lever 22's that i own.

IMO the lever model needs a TOTAL redesign...
