rifle scope for predator hunting on 243
« on: January 25, 2004, 03:36:55 PM »
There is lots of wisdom on this site and I am in need of some. I have a tikka t3 lite rifle and am looking for a scope. I would like to have some opinions in what brand and size to get for coyote bobcats and crow hunting. I dont have lots of money to spend so i would like the best scope for the money

thanks

It would help to add what ranges you expect and what time of day you expect to be most productive and will hunt the most.

Can you spend more money and if so how much. I can't recommend a scope for what you need in your price range. The only scope I can find that would work at all is a Weaver 2x10 38mm obj. V series scope. I had one but 400 yards and a small target is stretching the abilities of the scope. The Bushnell Elite 3200 10x is in your price range but 10x is not friendly at 50 yards. There is an Elite 3200 4x12 for around $240 from The Optic Zone.

I've used a few scopes in that price range...  One of the best buys is the Simmons 44Mag 6.5-20X44.  Not as crisp at 20X as more expensive scopes but still a VERY good scope for the money.  I believe the Simmons would be my first choice.  The Swift 6-18X44 #669MTA is another good scope that's not too expensive.  It's a tough scope with good optics.  I have never used a Bushnell Trophy 6-18 but I have several 4-12X40AO Trophys and they are good scopes for the money also.

If you are limiting yourself to $200.00 and you want a high power scope, I would recommend the Bushnell Trophy 6-18x40.
