Cast bullet loads for 7TCU
« on: January 25, 2004, 10:51:33 PM »
Anyone have recommendations for a mould and/or loads using cast bullets in 7TCU. I'm planning to use them for silhouette.  Thanx in advance.

hub cap, I've used c/b's from 135 to 160 grains (depending on targets) in the 7 t/c.powders were imr 4198 for the 135's ,ww748 for 145's.
sr4759 or imr4198 with 150's andww748 for the 160's.
a friend used 168 c/b'sand AA2520 powder for EVERY THING,chickens pigs turkeys and groundhogs! He got excellent accuracy with his gun/loads.
  hope this helps,  jh

I use the RCBS 145 silhouette bullet.  SAECO 160, Lyman 135, and several others.

What form of sillywet are you talking?  production/conventinoal?  unlimited?  standing?  full size?  half size?  barrel length?

Here are a few of my favorite loads:

RP brass sized and trimmed to 1.720"
WW Small Rifle primers.

Bullet lube:  Tamarak for slower loads
Lyman Orange Magic for hot loads.

Hornady gas checks on all bullets.

Standing - 8.0 grains Unique and 145 RCBS

Standing Unlimited - 8.0 grains Unique and 145 RCBS

Production/conventional 10" barrel.  23.5 grains VVN133  - RCBS 145
                                                     27.5 grains WW 748  Lyman 135
                                                     27.5 grains WW748 SAECO 160

Unlimited - 14" barrel 29.5 grains WW748 - RCBS 145

Unlimited half size - 14"  29.5 grains WW748 - RCBS 145  bullets that have been weight on a scale and are within + or - .2 grains.

These loads work in my specifics barrels for my specific use.  They MAY BE TOO HOT for your particular gun.  I have some barrels that will shoot dime size groups at 100 with one load and an exact barrel will shoot 3" groups with same load.    The 8.0 grain Unique load is THE standing load with cast bullets.

Changing primers WILL CHANGE THESE LOADS DRAMATICALLY.  DONT DO IT!!

Hope this helps you get started in sillywet shooting.  If you have a particular brass, bullet, powder, and primer, let me know.  I can get you load info to get you shooting.

Good and safe shooting,

Steve, If you were to use just 1 mould for everything, which would it be? Why?
