Bank robberies in your area?
« on: March 16, 2012, 08:30:03 AM »
I've seen a stunning number of bank robberies in my little area. There are only four banks and two of them have been robbed in the past six months. That's really unusual. Also, the robbers were from the area, so they were arrested in as little as 20 minutes after the crime.

Haven't seen any increase in that type of activity, but home invasions have been picking up some in a couple of the larger metro areas.

Failing economy creates desperate times, and desperate people.  Look for more of them as times get worse.  A couple of weeks ago a woman robbed a local Credit Union in a big box store.  An off duty cop watched her escape and followed her.  He then called for the officers to come to his location where he pointed the robber out.  20 minutes and the robber was in custody.

I keep remembering an incident that took place about five or six years ago.  A young punk came into a Quick Stop, and pulled a gun on the cashier.  Young punk was screaming at the cashier to give him the money.  Punk suddenly felt the barrel of a gun at the base of his skull.  He looked around and five of us had drawn guns pointed at him.  The person that had nudged the back of his head with the pistol told him to lay the pistol on the counter, quietly walk to the door, then run like hell.  Don't look back till you are two blocks away or I'll shoot you.  The punk did as told.  We all put our guns away.

The guy doing the talking was an off duty cop.  Said he did not want to have to take him in and do the paperwork.  He said hopefully he put enough fear in the young man that he won't do anything like that again.  Being a small city, I am sure that cop found out who he was the next day or so.  I also got a feeling the first time that young man does any thing this cop will be all over him.

By the way, the officer thanked us for the back-up.  If it had been one on one, he might have tried something.  But five to one, was too many to face.  The officer laughed saying when the young man turned around and saw all the guns pointing at him he thought he pooped his pants.  I just remember the fear in his face when he looked around.  That is the only time I have drawn my pistol since getting my Concealed Carry Permit.  One other time just showing it caused panic amoungst the guys with knives.  Hope I never have to draw it again, but it's there if I need it.

What Is A Veteran?
A 'Veteran' -- whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve -- is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America,' for an amount of 'up to, and including his life.' That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country today who no longer understand that fact.

Wait till they try to rob  Band of America, understand they wont take cash for a morgage payment now, how long before they wont accept cash at all. This gonna make it a bad hair day for a would be bank robber.

The last robbery we had here was pulled off by an 87 year old man, he would have got away with it had he not attempted to rob another bank in a near-by town.  He said he was upset by his loss from investments he had made through the bank. He was sentenced to 20 years and was listed as a high risk prisoner that would commit another crime if set free.

The big thing here is all night gas/quick stop stores.  One of them is robbed almost every night.  We are located on a major highway, crooks passing through look at this as a sleepy little town so they take advantage of the situation. Since they know the company that owners most of the stores does not allow the clerks to be armed.  Matter of fact, a clerk was recently fired for preventing a robbery when he retrieved his handgun from his vehicle.  It seems most of the robbers are into some form of drugs and rob or steal to support their habit.

My thoughts are burn a few of them and improve the gene pool, eventually it will stop.

We had a rash of bank robberies around here and almost every one was a TD Bank.
Home invasions and break-ins are really on the rise.  This is a tourist area and the local media tries to hush it up.  Tourists are getting assaulted and robbed every day.  Be careful out there!
