Reverse the Weaver base so it extends backwards, cut off this 'back' end so it lines up vertically flush with the rear of the receiver just forward of the hammer, (NOT the back end of the barrel) so it cantilevers over about 3/8"+ back of the breech end of the barrel.
File off part of the mount bottom so it will close and then cut another ring notch in the top of the back end of the mount, over where the frame and barrel breech meet.
A bit of effort but it worked really well on mine, and eliminated that ugly overhang in the front.
A GOOD little measuring square, a file and a hacksaw... and patience of course.
Used Millet extended rings to get more scope position adjustment length.
Pics maybe tonight when I get home.
