which .223 ??

I have been looking at .223 and cant decide on what kind to get. I dont want a heavy barrel and will be using it for coyotes. I was thinking about savage because of there accuracy.Anybody have any suggestions  :D

remington LV SF.  cool factor times 10.  they are a bit price but are very cool.  mine balances at the front triger guard and it comes to the shoulder quick.  a tikka t3 would aslo be good.

Get ready. Legacy Sports is finally able to bring the Mini-Mauser (Zastava, the old Mark X) in again.  Cool piece and quite reasonable.

How does your LVSF shoot?Hows the trigger?I cant decide between a LVSF and a .223 LTR I am kinda leaning toward the LTR because of the 1/9 twist which I think more manufacturers should adopt for the .223.But that 6.75lb LVSF sure is tempting.

I've heard alot of good things about the CZ 527 American .223.  I love the trigger of CZ rifles, and they are supposed to be pretty accurate too.  CZ-usa.com is where you can check out their guns.

I love my browning micro hunter great walk around rifle. Weighs in at 6# 4 oz. Only shot one box of factory loads through it so far, averaged a little under 1"

I just picked up a Tikka T-3(blued/syn), in .223 Rem.  I can't say SWEET loud enough.
This is my second Tikka, but my first T-3.  I wasn't sure if I would like it as  much
as I LOVE my Tikka Whitetail Hunter(ss/lam), in .25-06 Rem.  Lately, I have found
myself fondling the T-3 like a new girl friend.  It has the styling, and fit and finish, that
the Savage does not.  But I don't know who would win an accuracy contest between
the Tikka, and a Savage.  I have Savage rifles, too, and although they aren't as
pretty as the Tikkas, they sure shoot as accuractely, generally speaking.  If you are
on a budget, then get the Savage, if you put some emphasis on looks, and you have
more money to spend, get a Tikka.  By my expereinces, both will come out of the box,
shooting itty bitty groups.

For an accurate, everyday hunter you don't have to go any further than the Savage you are thinking about.  With the money you’ll save you can get a excellent scope to aid in your shooting.  My vote goes for accuracy which means go for the Savage.  Lawdog

It's hard for me to argue with Lawdog's reasoning.  I hunt with several people who use Savage's and they are, in my opinion, the best value out there right now in modern hunting rifles - inexpensive, accurate and durable.

That said, I perfer a single-shot and use a TC Encore for most of my hunting now.  The Encore with a heavy .223 barrel weighs about the same as a bolt gun with a standard barrel.  This is strictly a matter personal taste, both are fine rifles and capable of good to excellent accuracy.  I don't feel handicaped with a single shot since while coyote hunting I have not often had an opportunity for a second shot!

Ditto....I just got done buying the standard 223 barrel which is 24" long for my Encore. That's one of the advantages of the Encore....new barrel for $250 or less...same trigger, same feel.

Santa brought me a Ruger M77 MKII VT (heavy barrel Varmint Target with the two-stage trigger) .22-250 a year ago last Christmas and it is an outstanding rifle.  Had I not chosen the Ruger, a Savage would have been my second choice.

If you are looking for supurb accuracy for the fewest bucks the Savage is a very good choice.

Forum,
There are a lot of nice choices in 223 out there. I have the heavy barrel Savage and while it is a shooter (love the Accutrigger), you are wise to go with a standard barrel if you plan on toting your rifle any distance. The heavy barrel is indeed heavy!

I don't have the standard barrel in 223 in my other Savages but all are accurate so I don't think you'll go wrong with getting one. The new Stevens 200 seems like it is a real shooter based on what other have reported and that might be something to look at, particularly if you have to work on a tight budget.
