Well I went and did it.....First Clean Match
« on: January 26, 2004, 03:51:03 AM »
Well it took me almost a year.  My first shoot of 2004 and I managed to shoot it clean.  I was at  Badlands Bar 3 in English Texas.  Raining like all get out too.  Not only did I manage to shoot clean but finished 3rd in my class and 10th overall.  I was so happy...

Shot again Sunday...weather much better.  Shoot the first stage clean, shot the next stage clean.  Now I am thinking ...hey I can do this again.....get to the third stage...you guessed it 3 misses...I was dissapointed but just moved on.  Shot the next stage clean.  Get to stage 5.  It has some pistol targets that are shaped like a star with a ring around the outside.  They look big  but they arent..managed to miss one there.  Get to the last stage clean.  Thought I was out of the running then... but the wife and kids and inlaws were there and I was happy about that.  Get to the awards I finished 3rd in my class but out of the top 10.  Lots of good shooters there that day..those 3 misses on one stage sure hurt.  But they were my fault.

I am still on a high from this.  I took my time and still mangaged to finish well.  I will have to stick with this as it worked for me well.

Thanks to all those that helped me out over the year hope to have many more to come.

Congrats,  DB,

I shot my first one a year ago.  Thinking about a clean match during shooting is a good way not to shoot clean.  I shoot one shot at a time and since the shots you ahve fired cannot be changed I concentrate on the next shot.

Well pard, congratulations. I went 5 years of draught before Col. Dan was able to announce I had shot a clean one. You sir are a dead eye in my book.
You have done good for starting out. I guess you might set your sights on an EOT win now. Hey, it is a do able thing. I am going out on a limb and prdict that Doc Shapiro will pull off a world championship this year at EOT. Lord knows he practices hard to just that and he has the speed and equipment. I think he will do it. We have a gaggle of world champs in my area present and past. Another to keep track of is BJTs sone Badlands Bud. He is this years reigning Jr champ and is mighty fast for a kid that just turned 14. I predict he will one day be your overall champ too, once he learns to shave.    You can do it if you practice and really want it.
Your next mission is to try for more clean ones, maybe even a string of them. Congrats.
yer pard,

Congratulations Pard!!  That's a job well done!!!

Personally, I most always miss the first or second or both shots at a match,  you can't believe how much pressure that takes off of you for the rest of the day!!!!

DB,

I've got several others that I'm trying to get that slick, their getting close. The takedown that I'm using now gives you that Ooooo.... feeling. Kind like smearing butter in a hot pan. The guys at the load tables always wanna feel my guns...... if I could only get the ladies to wanna feel me! Oh' well that would probably just cut into my gun time and make momma mad.

Good Shooting, Cinch

It sure does like AA Superhandicaps....knockdowns sure go down quick.....and hard.

DB Congratulations!!!!!!

Shot my 12th clean one on the 1st January and keep working at it every time out.......I actually get more out of the matches by going clean and I find that my times have improved considerably also!

I think that the overall concentration just helps all around......!!
