Cheap Packin' Pistol
« on: March 17, 2012, 03:57:30 AM »
Found this one in a pawn shop.  It's a .357.  I'm probably going to try to find some original grips for it, but these are growin' on me.

Nice 3 screw.  I like the grips, but I'm really partial to well grained wood.  ;)  Great find Swampy.

I would keep the grips, I think that it looks great just the way it is.

nice looking 3 screw and id probably keep the grips on it myself. I wouldnt worry about the collectors status on that 3 screw because the grips arent original. I chuckle at ruger collectors. they think a 3 scew is some kind of a colector that should be kept in safe. Bottom line is there not much of a collector. You can still find them cheaper then a new 357. that doesnt make it a valuable collector piece in my book. What they are is good old guns that should be taken out and used like they were intended.

It will be shot, I just prefer the original Black Eagle grips.

I have a 4 5/8ths but it's a New Model.  I prefer the short barrels.

i like the original old model grips. they feel different to me than new model grips. that said life is too short to have ugly grips and those are simlpy pretty. if they feel good keep them. i have two old model .357 blackhawks. they are some of the easiest revolvers i have to hit targets with.

Hey Swampy!
I was on another website and it was about shooting small game with rimfires and came across a picture of a guy and his wife and he is holding a Marlin Mod 60 in the picture!  His username was also Swampman! Is this by any chance you??
The picture was supposedly made in 2009 for a Christma card.

If the need arose my 700 would be a weapon ( something used to injure or defeat ). Like the deer running away  ;)  or a guy trying to harm me .

Yes! In fact, the .357's are typically a dime a dozen by comparison to the .45 Colts or 41's.  (three screws that is)  I couldn't agree more; they need to be taken out and used.  They're great shooting guns and are made like brick #$%-houses and will last an eternity.

Nice piece Swamp!  Take it out and enjoy it.
