Over 12 hours of sunlight today.
« on: March 17, 2012, 09:15:44 PM »
We had 12 hours even the 17th of March.  We are gaining 7 minutes a day, and in another month I won't see it get dark.  the sun will be up before I am.   Yet it was 25 below this morning.  the longer days will start warming thing up soon.

You tell things in a really simple and enjoyable way.
Alas, I have no such abilities.
Thanks

Sourdough, we don't mind sharing the sunlight, but could you keep the danged Arctic storms up that way.  Here it is past the middle of March and we're still having snow flurries in the mountains.

think about it guys, we are conditioned to get up and go to bed with the sun.  It's now getting light about 6AM, the sun rises at 8AM.  It sets a little after 8PM today, but it won't get dark till around 10.  In a few weeks we will be wanting to get up at 4AM, and not wanting to go to bed till midnight.  And it only gets worse after that.  During June and July it won't get dark.  It will be light all the time.  That is when the newbys die from exhaustion.  It affects us old long time residents as well.

People go out on the weekend to go fishing.  They get up early Saturday morning, take the kids to up to Birch Lake.  Check out a boat, motor out onto the lake and start fishing.  Next thing he knows the kids are sound asleep in the boat.  He looks at his watch and realizes it's 3AM.  He motors back to the dock and there sits the wife furious he has kept her kids out so long.
