I grew up hunting Squirrels and rabbits with a .22LR. My Grandfather would shoot Groundhogs from the front porch to the garden, 115 yards to the front of the garden, 175 yards to the back side. The old man used a Stevens single shot with iron sites. He seldom missed. I killed a bunch of Cats, and an occasional Skunk. Dogs that people from Nashville would dump on the road near the house. Partridge, Quail, Pheasent, and Crows. A bunch of Goats got loose and thy owner wanted them shot. I killed two with my .22. Easy shots behind the ear.
Then I left Tennessee and went to New Mexico. There I shot Jackrabbits till I wore out a Remington pump. Killed a few Coyotes, and a bunch of House Cats. We won't discuss the Turkeys.
Here in Alaska I shoot Red Squirrels, and Foxes. An occasional stray dog or cat. (If it's on my property, and running loose, it's a stray)
