Google Earth
« on: March 22, 2012, 03:50:59 PM »
I can understand how I can see satellite pictures of my property from looking down from space, but who takes the pictures of the front and side of my house?  I feel like I'm being stalked.

They got folks riding around in little google spy cars.
They say google on the side of them and cameras on top,

My understanding is they have several cameras mounted that allows them to take 360 degrees of pictures constantly, that also records GPS readings. All they have to do is drive up and down the street. Then they have computer software to transform the pics into a seamless recording of everything around them. Sometimes in the "street-view" shots you can see shadows on the ground of their UFO-looking vehicle.

The street shots I saw were a couple of years old.  If I see a Googlemoble I'm going to moon it and see if anyone recognizes me.  The old lady across the street called me an a$$ because I shot her dog with my BB gun when he we leaving a pile in my front yard and she saw me.

One thing positive is that Google had the wrong address for my house.

I like Google Earth, and Terraserver. Great stuff for the outdoorsman when you look at the satellite views to see details of terrain.

I like it too.
I have used it in my work to verify the size of air conditioners on the rooftops of buildings, and used it to project our deer lease on a piece of sheet metal to trace a to-scale signout board.

Also, once its updated, you can see tornado damage.
